^ Those are my thoughts almost exactly.

The thing that tends to bother me the most is sexual content. Violence and swearing are bad, but it doesn't cause me to stumble. Sexual content that can cause me to lust is big problem.
Yeah, I'm that opinionated.

So otaku, but not...

My personal limits on anime are this: I'll sit through very mild swearing to enjoy the characters and stories I love, but what I consider strong language I will not sit through. Strong language is, by my high standards, misusing God's name in any way, and the "f" word, but the first of the two is what I consider the very worst. I even took my "Clamp School Detectives" manga back to the store because someone in the background took God's Name in vain. I'm very serious about that. I would refuse to watch the anime or read the manga in that case, but still love the characters.

Blood isn't an issue with me to a point. If it's people being shot, okay. If it's someone being ripped limb-from-limb with much gore and blood I won't watch it or read it. But again, the characters remain loved.

Nudity is one of my worst nit-picks. God didn't make the human body for it to be exploited. I won't take it no matter what. None of the manga/anime I was into before my step-dad made me get rid of it all had any such content. Sort of along with nudity goes obvious homosexuality. I don't want to get into a debate about that, but it's not something I want in my anime.

Bad religious content can grate on me, depending on just how bad it is. A few Catholic referecnes is okay, or someone praying obviously to God for something good, but far beyond that I like to avoid that. A character being an aetheist doesn't bother me unless they are a good-guy out to defy God or somesuch. The villain's religion is irrevelant, since you aren't supposed to like them, anyway, and as long as the hero defeats them.

... dang. That was a long message for me. :eh:

I will not watch anything with yaoi/yuri leanings. example: I loved Airmaster for about the first half of the show. Then I had to quit. That stuff is just sickening.

I like violent stuff, but only under certain circumstances and contexts - I loved RK: Trust and Betrayal, but I'd never watch Ninja Scroll.

Cursing to about any extent is okay with me. At school, everyone curses, so it's something I'm used to. Of course, I appreciate a series with little or no foul language.

Nudity is okay sometimes (think Inuyasha manga), but premarital sex/rape stuff is a BIG NO. I loved every bit of Blue Gender except for the implied sex. That almost ruined the series for me.

Fanservice and panty shots are alright as long as it's not too exploitative or blatantly sexual. Example: I thought Bakuretsu Tenshi was awesome, but I thought Cosprayers went too far.

You're talkin' to a guy who watched Blade Runner when he was ten. With that out of the way...

Oh yeah, no one on this site has heard my rant about cursing, have they? Well, here goes!

Swearing. I swear like a sailor (how appropriate, since I was in the Navy). Who are the guys who sit around and say, "This word is bad! You can't say this word!" Honestly. Now, if the language starts getting WAY too descriptive as far as sex or body parts, I can see that. That's obviously "bad" language. But as far as anything else? Words are words, in my opinion. There's no such thing as a "bad" word. Want an example? Snoogle. I just made that word up (probably). What if it means, say, a fluffy pillow? Harmless, right? Well, what if I start using that word in place of the "f" word? Is it then a bad word? Well it wasn't before! I don't swear in front of my family or in church. Is there a reason for that? Simply because other people find it offensive, and I respect that. But as far as words go, there aren't any "bad" words in my opinion, it's just the way people use 'em.

Violence. I don't mind it for the most part. I love Ninja Scroll, for example. But too much or "over the top" violence, i.e. Fist of the North Star, I can do without.

Nudity. Don't mind it too much, depending on how appropriate or explicit it is. For example, Ai Yori Aoshi had nudity. Fushigi Yugi had nudity. Mahoromatic had nudity. And I love all of those series.

Yaoi. Ulp, I think I'm gonna be sick...let's not discuss that...in fact, I'm gonna go puke now...

Swearing: Eh, as long as the F word isn't included in the subtitles, then I'm pretty okay with it. I don't swear a lot and I've been watching anime for more than 5 years now, so as long as it continues to not make me stumble, then I'll tolerate it.

Violence: Again, tolerable. Usually I don't like mindless violence, but if there's blood let and people die for a good reason, then I see nothing wrong. Just not too much guts spilling and limbs flying. ^^;

Nudity and Fanservice: >O<; Huge problem with this. I stay away from a lot of the more fanservicy animes because of it. Eeew eew eew eew~! I'm definitely not big on exploiting another human being's body, animated or not.

Yaoi/yuri: I'm actually pretty tolerant...><; Please no one flame me for saying that. Some of it goes right over my head so I don't notice, and if I do then I'm not going to stop watching a good series because of it.

Bad religious content: I'm okay with asian occultic stuff, made up religions, and the like, but as soon as they take Christianity and start mashing it, then I'm one unhappy fangirl.

Well, lets see . . .
I stop it at nudity and especially graphic scenes with nudity or sex or sexual acts . . . I feel that anime is still cartoons and that no character should be doing that . . . I mean who would even draw it?! For language, lay off the heavy cusses like F... and S... and all, but lighter ones are easy to deal with like Kyo in Fruits Basket . . .
but yea, this is a hard subject cause you don't realize how far you will go or anything . . . I also hate fanservice, very unnessecary, if its a good show you'll watch it anyway, don't add any extra stuff . . .

never ever hentai... a bit of ecchi (such as ranma 1/2) is usually okay... since it... well, isn't too detailed anyway. Good thing bout that. And they usually don't really show signs of lust or that stuff.

Prolly... I don't get offended by sexual inuenndo, and stuff. EXCESSIVE EXCESSIVE gore might get me. But stuff like samurai X is fine.

I would be very hesitant to apply an H label to R1/2. Yes, there is nudity in it, but nudity doesn't always equate with ecchi as far as genre (whether or not you are personally convicted to avoid it).

I don't really mind language that much (unless it's like in every sentence) I mean, most of us [teens] go to public school, and you get used to hearing language whether you want to or not. Not that it makes it right, but like others have said, it doesn't cause me to stumble.

Nudity - I can't stand fanservice and suggestive nudity, especially involving females. It makes me feel embarassed when women are portrayed like that. There really doesn't tend to be much male nudity (Well, I suppose in yaoi/shonen-ai there might be, but I've never watched that stuff and don't plan to)

Speaking of yaoi and yuri, I don't even get near that. I fail to understand what people (particularly the crazed fangirls) find attractive in two guys making out and doing other, er, things... I don't even want to watch heterosexual couples do that.

So basically, language doesn't bother me, maybe some *mild* innuendo, but I really dislike perverted humor in general.

All I'm going to say is my tolerance level has dropped so much recently, I can't be bothered with something unless it really pays off in some way. I can't wait for the further arrival of that which I was looking for when I came to this site - Christian Anime.

What I love about anime is the animation, style - the medium - I can't say that any of the messages or themes have really done much for me - at all. So when someone starts to put out good Christian anime I'll be all over it.

So far I haven't come across too much but after finding this site I found Inkhana's Steelblood and it really impressed me. yes because the art work, but I think more than that, the subtlety and intelligence with which she adds her Christian content.

Maybe I'm reading more into it than she intended, but I prefer the subtle references to salvation, the holy spirit and other elements woven into the story, rather than just a 'demon-slaying epic'. I think for me, the Christian life finds it's greatest joys in coming to know who God is, and in living out an epic journey following His leading, heading for the true hope and the city/country which he has prepared for us. Can't forget the fellowship and working of God through people either.

More of that please, and Inkhana well done and thank you! :)

I hear ya. Some random things I've seen on anime is like "Oh c'mon! No girl would do that!" And then there's all those random moments where a girl wears a skirt and something like a breeze of wind etc. just has to come along -_-'

No way am I watching hentai! But I did accidently come across one series before that was supposingly "The funniest thing EVER!" (and I still hear it.) Some Ebichuu show that involves a hampster with a whistle that point out things. *shrugs* I didn't find it funny and turned it off. But I can tollerate nudity if it's done with an artistic sense. Female nudity isn't usually detailed anyhow and male nudity is something I haven't seen in anime yet (nor do I want to.)

With language, I can tollerate it. No way of stopping what they say in school (which is worse than what they can ever say in anime, anyhow).

Violence, well I've seen some pretty shocking stuff. Some of it can really shock you, even for an anime. Just seen a seen that involved off-screen animal violence and that alone was shocking, just as an emtional thing that happened on there. With people violence, I've already seen enough blood on screen that I'm usually desensitised to it.

Elfen Lied is the most I can tollerate in an anime. I watch it for the VERY emotional plot that it conveys. Yes it's VERY bloody, so after getting through the first ep, it's almost easy to take. But with such a serious and shocking plot, I roll my eyes at the fact that they have to put in random fan service and so forth in it -_-' But the show just deals with some real life things and it just stirs you. But it is DEFINATELY not for someone with a low tollerence, that's for sure. Surprising enough, the opening song has verses from the Latin Bible that deals with some of what happened in the show. But it's just... yeah the most I've seen in an anime and I wouldn't cross the line to see anything further than this.

I don't do hentai or yaoi/yuri. I just don't want to see that stuff. When it comes to fanservice, it depends on how much and the context. If it's reasonable (i.e. you'd expect it because of the character's movement) then that's more or less ok. If there's no logical explanation for it and it's truly there just to be there, urgh. I'm either going to put it down or flip ahead. I like the manga Psychic Academy so far, nifty story really, but the fanservice is a bit much at times. >.<

Depends on whether or not it is entirely gratuitous and whether the violence / sex / nudity serves the story in any way. And if it serves the story to encourage depravity, then I'm throrougly against it. If it uses the aforementioned to comment or attack what it depicts (like an anti-war movie might use violence) then it's justified.

Off the top of my head, though, I've never seen a sex-scene that I felt wasn't gratuitous. There are out there that probably aren't, but I don't delve into those movies, usually.
