Adult Swim Anime/Comedy

Postby ShiroiHikari » Wed Jul 30, 2003 3:34 pm

Here, I started this thread so you guys can talk about Adult Swim if you want, since I noticed a lot of discussion about it in another thread ("Yet another blow to anime's image").

I'll get the ball rolling: I think it was pretty daring of the Cartoon Network to air an adult programming block. As a matter of fact I rather like it, because I can see an anime without having to go spend $4 per DVD/VHS renting it, or have to sit through an entirely horrible dub or edit.

But, as with nearly everything, there's a bad side, and I'd hate to see the programming get entirely out of hand. Which I'm not too sure it will...but since they've established themselves as adults only, you never know where it'll go next.

What do y'all think?

Since it's not pay cable (well, not pay as in, say, HBO), I imagine they can't go too far off the reservation in terms of content.

I watch Adult Swim ever since it first aired 3 years ago. My favorites comedys have to be; Family Guy, HomeMovies, & The Brak Show! All the dubbed anime is good too! Ecspecially Trigun, Big O, & Kikiter!

The thing I don't like about Adult Swim is that for me it airs so late at night. The first shows start at around 11:00pm and don't end till like 2:00 in the morning. If only I knew how to use my VCR.... :(

Yeah, that kinda bugs me too 'cause that's my peak online time, when everyone is on and such. Oh well, my mom is usually watching TV at night anyway -_-

Actually, that's one of the reasons it works so well for me...:) Dad's already in bed by then. BTW, do not watch anime with my dad. You'll never have a moment's peace. ;)

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I think they should take out Ripping Friends and maybe just put it back on Noraml Adult Swim. What is soo bad about RF? I don't understand? It used to come on Fox Kids even.
