Difference between Outlaw Star DVD Releases?

Postby Godly Paladin » Sat Mar 10, 2007 4:42 pm

It came out in two box sets here in the US, and I'm wondering what the difference is between the two.

Example A

Example B

On the IMDB boards someone guessed that the second doesn't have extras, but that's about the only thing I've found. Can anyone help? I want it uncut (not Toonami ed, in other words), dubbed, and extras are nice.

I don't think the Toonami cut version is available on DVD.

I doubt there is a significant difference between the two. Both should be uncut and have an English track. Since the price is basically the same, I'd go for the second as the box looks nicer. Don't know about extras.

There is not much difference between the two box sets.

Outlaw Star - Perfect Collection Boxed Set was a limited run and was release in Sept of 2002 and then I think another run in March of 2004.

Bandai has gone back and re-release some of the box sets that did in the past, but sell them at a lower price, which is what they call the Legends Complete Collection series.

Outlaw Star: Complete Collection was release in 2006 and you should be able to find it.

Since the Perfect Collection boxed Set was a limited run, its a very hard set to find now and the MSP for it was $59.98. But I saw it go for $80 at anime cons, when there was a few of them left.

You don't have to worry about it being cut. They never made a cut Toonami version dvds of Outlaw Star.

Only Gundam Wing Endless Waltz and Blue Sub No.6 come out in uncut format and toonami edited version.

The Perfect Collection was re-released a year or two after the original "Complete Series" sets, if I remember correctly. I'm not aware of any changes made in the re-release.

I've had the opportunity to view the re-released "Perfect Collection" some time back in the summer, and I have to say that, althought the presentation package-wise wasn't anything worthy of praise, it still delivered an excellent work of animation... save for that one onsen episode.
