Hellsing Ultimate Series 1

Postby Stephen » Thu Dec 21, 2006 8:34 pm

First episode came out a while back. Just got my copy today. I will be posting my take on it, and an unoffical review of sorts on episode one later as well.

Ok. By no means is this an offical CAA review. Nor will I be writing it as such. However, I will give my opinion on the new Hellsing anime.

#1. Folks, it earned its 16+ rating. Violence, brief nudity. I cannot advise this to anyone under the age of 16 or 18 really.

The nudity/sex. No sex, though we do see a guy grab a girls chest and say he wants to rape her. (However, it does not go any farther then words) The only nudity was a very undetailed shot of a character lifting her shirt to look for a wound. We see the lower part of her breasts. A few underware shots, (as what, 90% of most anime have?) But thats it for nudity.

Language. A bit tamer I thought then the original Hellsing. But it is still there.

Violence. Far more then the original Hellsing. Vampires now bleed as well as turn to dust. So there is a ton of blood in the fights.

Overall. Nows the part I really wanted to write. This is by far, the best anime I have ever seen. I was a bit....nervous when I heard they were remaking Hellsing. I loved the original series...and was scared it might be ruined. Boy was I wrong. They seem to be sticking to the Manga. (Which sadly I have not read) The voice actors almost all sound the same. (Not sure if they are all the same or not) The first 50 minute episode felt like I was eating space food. It was condensed very well. It sucked me in, and kept my attention like no other anime has been able to do. At the end I was begging for more, and hoping like all heck that episode 2 is not long away. In closing, if you hated the first Hellsing....ignore this one. If you liked the original...check this out. And if you never saw the original....give this a chance. You may enjoy it.

They are.

Volume 2 came out in Japan on 8-25-2006. I'm guess a release of volume two over here will be, Feb or March, maybe?

Volume 3 comes out in Japan in Feb of next year.

So, just to clarify: this is a Hellsing remake following the manga, now that it's actually close to finishing? Are the episodes still being made or is the animation finished? Will volume 3 in February be the last one or do we even know that yet?

I may have to pursue this at some point.

Oh, is this the OVA? I've seen the first and second OVA.

Unlike the Kenshin ones, the humor is still there while there is less of it. Up until the whole "Nazi" situation, the manga and anime were pretty close.

Humor still there? the first series was devoid of humor aside from a few dark humor parts near the beginning.

I have no idea what you're talking about Tom. Have you downloaded the new episodes or somthing? Only one has been released in America under the title that this thread bares. As far as UCs question...yes, they are sticking closer to the manga on this one. So I doubt Incognito will be anything in the new series. And I am really looking forward to more Anderson vs Alucard wars.

Myess, Alucard wasn't sipping a cool, refreshing bag of donor samples was he? For shame.

Humor is in this one.

I happened to be bored of the first hellsing series, but I absolutely loved this one.

Might want to mention I saw the Japanese, so it may have been edited out, version and the vampire does a bit "more" then just grope ceres.

edit

Tom may have watched a subbed version, its out up to #2 in Japan

Yes, I saw the first two episode subbed.

Hellsing had plenty of "chibi" styled-humor but it centered completly around Victoria.

No, Ingcognito is not present. This follows the manga and the villian
is basically the present Hitler. The nazis are reborn.
Well, I felt I pretty much was clear on the grope thing. He grabs her, and says he will rape her. I guess you could go into further detail of the scene, but I felt I was right in what I said.

I can't wait to get my hands on this. I loved the original anime, but I really didn't want to spend the money on the manga. Now I get to see (at least in part) what I've been missing out on!

One question: Will we see more of Alexander Anderson in this series? (please no spoilers, just yes or no :))

Ok. For the record. I will use the spoiler thing because its rather non-kid friendly what is done.
He grabs her breast, says he wants to rape her, then grabs at her crotch. This is all done in split second like single frame stuff. No nudity is shown, and the vampire does not last long enough to do anything more but be a bullet holder for Alucard. lol.
Yeah I just wanted to say it had a slight bit more then the breast groping, just thought it should be mentioned because breast groping tends to be a comon thing in a lot of animes and this is a little more then that.

Overall I loved hellsing ultimate and cannot wait for more to come out.

Yeah, that is how it was done in the sub.

Can't wait for Episode 3.
