Jaden's unplesant book of doodles
PostPosted: Thu Sep 06, 2012 5:03 pm

Alright, so I've been making a few doodles and stuff. Now, I got a few base rules when I doodle. Rule number 1 - I am not allowed to think, so blame my hands, not my brain. Rule number 2 - Cannot be drawn on a flat surface, so it must be held in one hand and drawn with the other.
Other than that, let the dump of pictures commence! Going by 3's here.
Some is fanart, though, it's fairly obvious. Such as Guts from Berserk or the Batman.

You draw the human skull fairly well for not thinking. XD;
The touch ups with the lighting and textures are also good, especially on the last one.
Your doodles make me want to doodle more just for fun instead of making a multitude of sketches for a project (which is what I usually do).
Looking forward to more.

I agree! XD
I especially like that first one. It looks really good, great profile view.

No, don't let him brainwash you, ABlip. D: Fight against him; call them cute! =D
I really like the first one in this new batch you put up, the line work is especially high energy and active.
The last one is good, but I would have loved to see it more developed (it's a doodle, I know, but it would look great with more detail and variance in lines, light and dark, etc.)

That one is my favorite!
It really speaks to me. It makes me think "Am I that man?"
I wish I can doodle like that without thinking. You have a nice creative talent.

I think ABlip could have meant "sick" as in cool. "Sick" has been used as slang for cool recently.
I like them.

Alright, time for more sick stuff then!
More anger! Rage!
And more worms!

I'm sticking with the usual definition. Recalling that "whatever is... lovely... - Think about such things" (Phil 4:8), I try to keep my mind as pure as possible. You're free to enjoy the images, but I think they are sick.
That says nothing about Jingo's artistic talent.

sorry. I usually hear that word in the slang definition.
I understand how you feel now though. It's understandable.

So you felt the need to tell everyone that you believe his illustrations are "sick"? You can feel however you want to about whatever, but seriously dude.

Welcome to the gray zone of semantics. Nothing I have posted so far indicates directly any evil. Well, aside from the cat or the teddy bear, I think those were kind of on the edge. I've posted skeletons, and if you dislike your anatomy, then sure, you can raise a point out of personal preference. I've posted skeletons with worms, which is a natural state of decomposing, and nature has a certain beauty that artistic silence cannot spoil. Other than that I've posted different creatures, that may be entirely virtuous. I've posted a woman crying, perhaps tears of joy? I've posted a couple of angry picture, perhaps they are angry for a good reason? I have also posted.......
The batman.
Though, unless you find some inherent evil, something with the intend of corrupting a soul and turning it against God, which absolutely none of this includes. Then you can keep your definitions to yourself, along with your opinions. I mean, you've made some remarkable statements over the year, anything from digital art being 'the computer doing everything' to reincarnation theories in christian doctrine. Though, I don't find you sick. I find that you put your view of the world as doctrine, rather than exploration like the rest of us. And, in that respect, I would ask you to please keep opinions, which an artist or generally people might find inflammatory or uncalled for, unless you want to be challenged equally to what you challenge my work for, and I will be as blunt as your definition. The only difference is mine will be inherently valued in content, yours so far stand in how you view something which does not even tell a story. Think I go "Oh yeah let's create a solider of Satan!!1!" when I doodle up something with dark contrasts? Think again.
That was fun. Moving on.
And this

^ Scanning your load of text, I noticed you completely missed the point. I said "lovely". I don't believe the first few images of yours fit under that category - at least not in my book. I haven't bothered to look at your other images, but since my first comment pertained only to the first three images, it's a moot point to be arguing about how it applies to the rest.

Please, while it is all fine and good that you don't like the art or what it represents. It would be absolutely lovely, if you could find some other thread to derail.

You have such fun pen work, Jaden. I'm always too cautious when I'm doodling, I never get that sort of wild sketching effect. I like it!
Anyways, yay, Batman, and the one after that reminds me a bit of Magneto (maybe the helmet?).

Generally blip, art commentary is usually not considered 'well expressed' when it consists of one word, and defending your position is generally expected, especially when it could be construed as an insult rather than constructive criticism or commentary.
I haven't bothered to look at your other images.
Especially when you make comments like this.

Yeah, I realize. My apologies.
I haven't bothered to look at your other images.
Especially when you make comments like this.
Once again, though, that's inapplicable. In my quote there, I was speaking about his images after my first post. His response post to my second post seems to assume the my first post was applicable to
all of his images, which it wasn't. That's all I meant. I'm sorry I also sounded ambiguous in that quote. No harm meant.

XD Just a pencil and an eraser, plus contrast and softness balance in photoshop along with the background. Fairly quick process.

Philippians 4:8 is probably one of the most misquoted Bible verses either. Fair enough if this art style isn't you're thing or you don't like darkly-themed images but don't hide behind a quote that you've taken out of context.
Jaden, some quality art, mate. Very creative!
