I thought that having an "Event" forum under "Anime and Entertainment" would be an eaiser way to keep track on Anime Cons than just postin gthem under a general entertainment forum.

Suggestions?

Do we really have that many con threads? It doesn't seem like we have them in excessive number.

I don't know about the necessity of the forum per say, but if it is created, it'd be great to see cosplay discussion there. 83

I'm just thinking it would be easier to find conventions, and therefore make more of them known. ShiroiHikari lived not to far from an annual one and had no idea, until I told her about it. And I had never even been there. So there may be more conventions around than we think, but they are just not publicized. This way, we could even possibly go so far as to round up members and represent CAA at some functions. This way we could maybe witness to even more people like ourselves. Just a thought...

That's my point, is that nobody posts them. If there was a place in particular, there might be more posted. Right now, I have no idea (as many others) as where to go to find out about conventions.

You don't know about http://www.google.com/search?q=anime+convention or an early result, http://www.animecons.com/? They seem like decent places to start looking.

That is well and good, but what I was thinking about was the ability for everyone here to plan to meet up at them, maybe witness, you know, organize meetings and spread the word to meet at them. Just because I do a google search and find one does not mean that the other people on the forum would know anything about it. All I am saying is that there could be one place where the name, place, and schedule could be posted and discussed.

Perhaps not in excess, but I seem to notice at least two or three a month in the General area.

There are times that a few people do ask about is there a con near me.

Which a few of us do point out and give the link for http://www.animecons.com/

But it would be nice to post on what the con will have, as what guests will be there and so on, which I know that they post that kind of info on animecons.com.

But it would also help, members in planning on going to a con and if they want to plan a meet up.

I do agree with Kokoro Daisuke's idea as have cosplay discussion, if there was a forum for it.

That's a great idea. It'd narrow down forum searches throughout CAA.

My point exactly. Basically just a cosolidation of Con/Cosplay events. This way people can meet up, let them know they will be selling at a table, etc.

As far as I'm aware, the three main cons that a number of CAAers meet together are Anime-Expo (The most) and Otakon (A good number), with some people at Anime Weekend Atlanta (Like 3-4).

You're forgetting ComicCon as well.

(MSP)That could change if more cons are publicized, and the option of going to (or meeting at) them made easier. There is no way in heck I can ever make it to any of the three you just listed, but I am going to the one in Wichita, and meeting up with a few fellow CAA members, after I posted a thread on AFW 07. I recently found out about one in November, and possibly three more, in Oklahoma. I'll probably post a thread on it as well. It'd just be nice to have one place that everyone could post con threads in. It would just be that much easier to find them. Is it really that big a deal to start a forum? I think it would do much more good than harm, personally. Each thread could consist of Event Announcement-Schedule-Pictures-Aftermath.

By the way, we're discussing this option among staff, so your suggestion has been heard. If you still have things to add or this discussion continues that's fine, but rest assured it hasn't been ignored.

Sounds like a great idea to me...

Though I know in my heart of hearts there won't be any near my general neck of the woods, it would be nice to see where con's are happening elsewhere...excuse me...
