Due to some complaints, the recent accessibility errors have been revoked and we're back to our regularly scheduled yet still irritating database errors until another solution comes along. Thank you for your patience, everyone.

I kind of liked the new way. At least that way, I didn't have to deal with the database errors

Well, when the entire staff was having problems getting on, it was crossing the line. And hey, better database errors for 2 minutes than lockouts for what, an hour?
Although no one go harass Shooby over it; it was a good idea that just didn't happen. And the staff as a whole decided to go with it for better or for worse.

It really was a good idea. My suggestion would be to put a login option on the "server busy" page so that it keeps out lurkers and browser to save on bandwidth but member don't have trouble getting on.

Well, if you can't get on, that's a problem. On the other hand, once the db errors started, CAA seemed like it was dead for the day what with everything locking up and such. Under the new system, I was only prevented from enterng the first day-- where I couldn't access the site to learn I couldn't access the site.
Oh well, you guys run the show, so you know what's best...
[EDIT] Though after having the db error and freezing of the site a few times, I'm starting to lean back to re-instating the cancelled policy, since it tends to take a while to get back-- not 2 minutes (noticing that sometimes when logging back in that I'm the only one there since everyone else had to bail too...)

We've already determined that we are not soliciting any money from members, for a variety of reasons, including the overhead of tracking that money and being legally responsible for it.

Must be aggravating hearing all sorts of advice from people like me who have no clue what's going on behind the curtain. It would be nice to be able to lend a hand financially though in helping you in getting a new server or whatever you need. But I guess that once you start taking in money, you have a whole bunch of worries with the gv't and such.
We''ll try to be patient during this period, though it's annoying when I click my bookmark and get taken to the database error page...
