Sig scrollbars!!!!!!!

Postby meboeck » Fri Jan 12, 2007 9:29 pm

I just noticed that long sigs now have a scrollbar! Thatnks Mith! (I'm assuming you did that.) And thanks to the mods for quickly and effectively creating a sulution to the issue brought up in the opinions thread. Now people can still have long sigs but they look short! Thanks!

Shhhhh. It's a secret. ;)

No, I'm still testing it out. We'll go public with it eventually.

Oh. I was wondering where that last line on me signature went....*plays with the scrollbar* ...cool. So does this mean I can make it longer than before? I was trying to keep it a bit *cough* less distracting, but with the scroll-y thingamajig...

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."

That honor goes to Mithrandir, unless he got it from somewhere else.

Please don't, though we won't be punishing long sigs or setting up extensive standards. We'd actually prefer most people keep their signatures to a non-scrolling length ("most" due to things like your sig).

o.O

Pardon, but I have no idea what you mean. I'm stupid that way. Could you clarify? I wasn't speaking of making it extremely long or anything...it's just that I used to keep a couple more quotes in it...which made it too long for some peoples tastes. I did shorten it.

Er...and if you mean the thing at the bottom of my signature...well...I was mostly waiting for someone to laugh at it. Nate found it...so...I can get rid of it, if you want. o.o

I think he means that the ones that only go a little beyond the limit like yours are the ones they prefer. It's the ones that make you scroll forever that they would still like a little shorter. (Unless I'm wrong.)

Your sig's not long enough to scroll, Q...

And I did notice a negative aspect almost immediately that no one's brought up yet - when scrolling with a scroll wheel, the page scrolling gets interrupted when it comes to a scrollable signature. Then I discovered that placing the cursor over the avatar area on the left fixes that.

It scrolls for me, too. I think it has to do with the resolution of your computer.

Sorry. Sometimes I revise my sentences for precision and end up muddling the meaning. Here's the direct version:
uc pseudonym wrote:Shorter is better.

The important part of my post was that we did not want people to think of this as a reason to make their sigs a lot larger.

QtheQreater wrote:Er...and if you mean the thing at the bottom of my signature...well...I was mostly waiting for someone to laugh at it. Nate found it...so...I can get rid of it, if you want. o.o

No, that was somewhat of a compliment. What I said was that things like that are a decent reason to have a scrolling signature.

Ah, okay. Sheer lunacy is a decent reason? :lol:

I won't make it any longer, though. Thanks!

That is one piece, yes. Other factors:

* Operating System
* Browser
* Resolution
* Screen DPI
* Default font face/size
* Proximaty of computer to Stravo Muler Beta

How... unobservant of me...

For what it's worth, there is no scrolling in Q's signature in Opera and Firefox. But if I increase the font size, the scrolling begins.
