Favorite Series of Books

What is your all-time favorite series(s) of Books?

For me, its the Warriors. Its a series, or three, actually. The first series is about a cat who lives in a clan of cats in the woods (Heavily abridged Summery), and the second series is about the next generation, and the next series is about the next generation. A fourth series is coming out or might be done, but I do not have any of them.

Guys, we need to make more threads in this forum. Any ideas? SierraLea

This is my idea...;)

Lord of the Rings (seriously, one of the best around)
Narnia (ditto)
The Wheel of Time (yes, it's long, but I'm addicted)
Harry Potter
The Chronicles of Prydain
The Time Quintet (weird existential fantasies and Christian symbolism? Yes, please!)
Percy Jackson and its sequel, Heroes of Olympus
Artemis Fowl

• Robin Hobb's The Farseer Trilogy
• Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain
• Narnia
• John Le Carré's Quest for Karla trilogy, consisting of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honourable Schoolboy and Smiley's People
• Dan Simmons' Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion.
• Gene Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun
• Discworld
• The collected works of Stephen King, all of which seem to share the same fictional universe.

The John Wayne Cleaver trilogy, all day every day, ad infinitum.

Percy Jackson (withholding an opinion on Heroes of Olympus until it ends)
Tiffany Aching (the series that showed me that Pratchett is amazing and I need to read more of his stuff)

Ranger's Apprentice. This was the first book series I liked that didn't have a healthy dosoe of magic of other fantastic elements.

Others include Harry Potter, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Rowan of Rin, and The Tales of Hiccup Horrendous Hadock the Third.

This is a very good idea, AndrewinIce

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix
The Keys to the Kingdom by Garth Nix
the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
Annals of the Western Shore by Ursula K. Le Guin
the Dune series by Frank Herbert
the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb
Howl's Moving Castle, etc. by Diana Wynne Jones
The Indian in the Cupboard series by Lynne Reid Banks
The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander
the Myst books by Rand and Robyn Miller

A couple other series that I'm sure I'll like once I've read more than the first book are the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson and the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.

I’m a bit late on this, but here are mine:

Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
Chronicles of Earthsea by Ursula le Guin (only the first three)
Darkangel trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce

And these fall into the "I really like the first book" category:

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones(the sequels are not bad, but they also aren't quite as good as Howl's is)
Dune by Frank Herbert (the sequels are significantly not as good as the original)
Foundation by Isaac Asimov(haven't read the other books but would like to)
Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee (I read one of the other two, but it's been so long that I can't remember which one it was and whether I liked it or not)

Meredith Ann Pierce deserves much more recognition than she gets. In particular, The Darkangel trilogy, a series of YA novels, stands out for its unique fantasy/sci-fi world (something that’s pretty rare) and bold storytelling that eschews easy answers or a clichéd ending.

The Lord of the Rings is definitley up there, along with The Hunger Games (although I didn't much like the last book), The Youngest Templar, and Mike Lupica's Travel Team series.

The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss

I like other series, but these three would probably be my favorites =)

Series I liked, but dropped because of issues with a book:
Maximum Ride (after the third book, the series really went of the rails)
Sword of Truth (first half of the series is fine. Then the fifth book comes along and he starts giving us more philosophy than story and making it boring)

Hmm, favorite book series. I'm rather fond of Warriors myself, though I'm pretty far behind when it comes to the fourth series. Really thinking it would have ended just fine with The New Prophecy. I also really like Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hunger Games books, Guardians of Ga'Hoole and the Inkworld series. I haven't finished The Lord of The Rings, Percy Jackson or Maximum Ride yet so I can't really say much about them. Dang, I need to read more books. D:

I'll just go ahead and admit that I also really like Hank the Cow dog. While it is meant for people half my age and under, it is still some funny stories. And Dragons in our Midst (And sequel series) Narnia and LOTR I also like.
Since everyone else listed a few, I might as well.

I agree that the third series was not as good as the first two. The first was my favorite, FIREHEART RULES!But the third series had Jaypaw, who is one of my favorite characters of any book I have ever read.

Currently, The Chronicles of Narnia, since that is the only series I have finished.

Working on finishing some.

Same here. I loved the first series and have read it...three times, I think? I can't say I strongly dislike the others (I do like the second quite a bit), but they get progressively more disappointing. It gets more and more into the realm of weirdness and away from the practical lives of the warriors. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: And then the Star Clan we all loved and revered, who we knew always had the answer to everything and was always right, ends up being pretty clueless about everything and constantly fighting amongst themselves. It's pretty disappointing. And the author apparently isn't that interested either, because she keeps going off on tangents. I'm sorry, but I hardly made it through one Seekers book. And between that, the new Survivors, and all the special editions and mangas, I get the feeling she's getting bored with our favorite cats. Anyways,
Jaypaw, who is one of my favorite characters of any book I have ever read.

YES! I love Jaypaw. He basically rescued the third series for me. I probably would have given up on it a few times if it wasn't for him.

Anyways, Warriors aside, I love Ranger's Apprentice. I haven't finished it (really should, I know), but so far I love it.

The Inkheart Trilogy is my latest addition to the list. Why can't I read things out of books?

I love the Timothy Zahn Star Wars books - they really helped get me into "reading for fun." :P

I also enjoyed The Lord of the Rings, and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan books include a number among my very favorites, though I haven't read every title featuring him.

But probably first among series for me would be "The Once and Future King" collection by T.H. White, short as it is if you consider it as a series of four books rather than one novel in four parts.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy
The Harry Potter books
The Chronicles of Narnia

And likely others that I'm not able to think of at the moment.
