Franz Kafka... What do you think?

Postby brantelg » Mon Oct 18, 2004 6:54 pm

What do you think of the author Franz Kafka?
I have just started reading his short stories, such as "Metamorphasis" and some others. I was like "wow this stuff is amazing". Its really deep and dark.
If you have read some of his works, what would you recommend?

I've tried to read his works, (notably "The Castle" and "The Trial" but I could never finish them. Both left me as not very interesting. I know that a lot of people (CS Lewis included) praised his books, but I could never get into it.

//cringes// Considering that Kafka's such a huge name in literature, I'm ashamed that I haven't read any of his works, or even if I've ever come across one I did so unwittingly. But one day I'll get to it.

By the way, his Metamorphosis has been adapted to a published graphic novel by Peter Kuper. The cover reminded me a bit of Spiegelman's Maus.
*Insert witty saying here*
