Does anyone know of a reliable, and preferably free program that can capture footage directly from a DVD? I want to make AMV's using the anime I own and I unfortunately have Windows (I wish I could use Final Cut!!) and I don't have any experience with Windows DV editing. Any help is appreciated!

I have yet to find one that you have to pay for that's actually good. The closest program I've found rips video beautifully but horribly desynchs the audio.

I'm not so worried about audio problems because I probably won't leave the original audio in. What program are you talking about?

There's a tutorial I found somewhere once upon a time that goes through all the steps and has links to the freeware you need to download. I made an AMV using it, and it gave reasonable quality and audio. I'll just try to find the link.

It's titled DVD to VCD, but I just used it to convert the DVD format to Avi.

This is what I use for my DVD footage in AMV's. My only problem is that audio is usually nonexistent or crap. But if you are making an AMV, that shouldn't be a problem.

I got the program, but the picture is highly distorted (not grainy or anything, but actually distorted). Is there any way to get around it?
