How can I type it?

I'm supposing there's a program or such out there that allows me to do such, but where and how can I get it to work?

My browser display Japanese characters correctly, but I haven't discovered how to type them myself yet.

I think if you go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options and change it to Japanese, it might work. Also I have seen some sort of language switcher in some windows office menus.

with this you cannot see what you are typing (same keyboard), but you can see and click and type i believe with the character map.

Well, I tried that (I've done it with the accents), but I couldn't find a Japanese option. I'm guessing I have to download it somewhere. o_O
