Does anyone have any handy websites that go step by step in how to recolor in Adobe Photoshop? I still need to buy the book for it however I am rather broke for cash and I have a project due in recoloring a black and white photo coming up.

Make selections and use hue/sat changes in adjustments.
If you need better explanation I'll write a more detailed explanation.

Hue/saturation is good. however, if you want to be able to change colors without messing up your original photo, use layers. Put each color on a layer and choose a blending mode for the layer. You'll probably want to use either the 'overlay' or 'multiply' modes.

Well you should be working in a copy of the original picture anyways so you can restore sections if there is an error. You also could select section>copy to layer>hue/sat or apply hue sat changes in a adjustments layer to protect the original (I was taught never to do an actual adjustment to an original but to use copys and adjustment layers).

hmmm... since eso and I seem to have different methods for this I hope she'll do a tutorial too...it'd be interesting to see the different results.

Ah, adjustment layers. Yeah, you could in essence say that's what I use. Since I'm a photoshop user from version 4, I have many archaic, manual ways of doing things. I make my own layers (the hard way), but adjustment layers would be the way to learn now. I should use them too, I'm just stuck in a rut of habit.... I'd do a tutuorial, but sadly I don't have time, besides like I said, your way is more effecient.
