I have posted a number of tutorials on youtube on how to create art using free and trial versions of some programs.
Currently I have tutorials on:
blender3d(free)
bryce7PLE(free)
ms paint(comes standard with windows)
cinema 4D(available as a demo version)
Vue8.5 also has a PLE version and although I don not have tutorials up for it I can make them if requested.
currently I making a tutorial on how to create an animated bible in C4D
my channel is located at http://www.youtube.com/user/pengi274
for more information on the the programs and the downloads check out the following:
Blender3D - http://www.blender.org/
Bryce7PLE - http://www.daz3d.com/i/software/bryce/default?
[you'll need to create a free account with the to get the serial number]
Vue8.5PLE - https://secure.e-onsoftware.com/try/vue_8_ple/index.php
Cinema 4D - http://www.maxon.net/downloads/demo-version.html (demo) do not install this until you are ready to use it.
I will take tutorial requests but please be patient as it may take awhile to get up a requested tutorial.
I draw using a mouse in ms paint and this can be frustrating if you haven't done it before.
I just can't afford a tablet at the moment:shake:
you can always scan your artwork and place it in paint then use the curve tool to create the line art.
I'm looking into gimp and inkscape as free alternatives to photoshop and illustrator. and can post tutorials on these if requested, after I get the hang of them.
If you do have access to adobe photoshop and or illustrator I can post tutorials on them fairly quick.
for more information on gimp and inkscape check out the following links:

I know most anime fans have interests in art as well, so I'm trying to find the best freeware and then create tutorials, cg programs can be very expensive and so can anime\manga
Also if anyone out there is interested in learning some basic programming skills, their are a number of free tool and instructional sites I can direct you to.
I only have experience with visual basic, C++ and python programming. I'm a hobbyist in this area so haven't invested any time or effort in creating tutorials. But I'm happy to share what I've learned with any other Christian "weekend warrior" programmers out there:thumb:
If your a student with a project or something I wouldn't be of much help, being a hobbyist means I only learn what I need to to get a project I'm interested in doing done. So my knowledge is rather spotty. I pick up books and only look at the parts concerning what I want to learn to turn an idea into an executable. Your welcome to ask and if I know I'll tell you
But if your like me, someone who likes to putter around with things like programming when your not working, feel free to pick my brain:grin:
I created a program I dubbed "tinyanime player" in visual basic awhile back, I can post a tutorial on how you can make one yourself, if there is an interest.
you can get visual studio express here:
