Agent Eva Martinez read the files laid out in front of her, dated August 22, 2034. “A new hacker, huh?” She brushed her long black hair from her eyes. “A new guy every day. When will these guys learn? Okay, Director, I'll get to work. This should be easy.”


"No," her director said. "Not for this guy. We have been trying to hunt this person down for weeks. It usually only takes a couple of days— a week at most. This hacker is very skilled, and very dangerous."


"Which is why you called me," Eva said with a smile, scanning the documents with the hardware embedded into her bright—golden, almost yellow— hazel eyes, saving the information as files in the computer integrated with her brain— upgraded beyond the average citizen brain-computer, courtesy of the FBI. "Not sure why you hunted him for weeks before coming to me, but don’t worry, Boss— I’ll get this guy arrested in a few days, tops."


The director nodded, with uncertainty in his eyes. Agent Martinez was one of his best, if not the best, agents, but he wasn't entirely sure that even she could catch this hacker.

It's been a while since I ran a RP thread. Or RPed at all, for that matter. So hopefully I'm not *too* bad.

And I'm bad with titles, as you can see.

I don't really like character sheets, but they're in the rule sticky, so I'll just throw one in...

Okay, you can be a hacker or an FBI agent like I am. This is probably a spoiler, but it's not just one hacker; it's a team of hackers. So there will be multiple hackers, with a team of FBI agents working against them.

I'll probably make a hacker character for myself soon, actually.

Anyways, that's it. Let's see how this goes.

I think Andy will start outside the group. Since he's been trying to raise his skills, I would imagine joining a big-time group has a lot of character potential, so...
But hey, whatever you want. You need me to adjust, you let me know. I'm super-flexable! (Kinda havta be in this job )

Danny grinned, typing away on his computer, preparing for the group's next attack. "How's this code look, guys?" He asked the group, pressing "Send" to send the file through their shared network.

"Wow," one of the other members of the group, Kenny, said. "I don't see a single flaw in your code. Amazing! Nice work, Danny!"

The other members concentrated hard, trying to find errors in the code, but they couldn't.

"Right, then," Danny said. "Looks like it's time to execute this program." He opened the file and watched, grinning, as he allowed his program to wreak havoc on the city.

Oh hey, we're starting now?

Oh, you're supposed to wait here for-- Ahh, got it. Oops. XD

I prefer just having two or three people per RP, personally. We could wait for one more person, or just start now.

Well, sometimes the rpgs start up, and other people join in later, though its unusual.

Decided to make this the OOC thread since I've talked so much before starting the RP.

I think I wanna... Start now, then people could join whenever they want. They couldn't join too late though, once the hacker and FBI groups are already built and strong and heated, or it'd be kinda weird.

And now that this is the OOC thread, we can talk about plot and everything, and how we're gonna do our posts.

How do you want your character to get introduced to the hacker group?
I think if I knew that, this would all be easier.

I was thinking the hacker group is just kinda sitting around in a room together, on their computers. And they wouldn't go advertising or anything, so I don't know how they'd get any new members. Unless your character's such a good hacker that he found something out about them, or something.

That's all completely up to you, though.

Skype lets you call people's phones. It could be your character's Skype or phone or whatever you want.

Also, my original plan for this story was to be a bit like how in Death Note, L and Light kept coming up with ways to outsmart each other and it was really cool.

But I probably can't do that here lol, I'm terrible at thinking of stuff like that.

This looks fairly interesting, though I am a bit confused. I do not understand the basic plot for this rpg. What is the scenario? The time period? Is there a special FBI hacking group and what is their main mission? Where and or what is(are) the antagonist(s)?

I think it would be useful to write up a brief prologue that informs would-be and current players of the scene that you are trying to create for this story. Also, it would allow them to create antagonist characters (villains). Please don't misunderstand my intentions; I am not trying to be critical. I see you are a new member, and I have been role-playing and leading various rpgs here for 7-8 years now. So I hope this helps. If you are still looking for characters, I will gladly play along.

Yeah... I did a pretty bad job explaining stuff beforehand. I'll explain a little more now.

So, it's the year 2034. Most, if not all, citizens have computers integrated into their brains, called BCIs (brain-computer integrations... Not a very creative name. My characters call them "brain-computers" XD)

Most vehicles are driverless. Basically advanced versions of the driverless cars Google are making now, in real life.

I believe I, Robot had driverless cars as well, for another example.


So, brains and cars both have computers in them.

Money is now completely digital.

Computers and the Internet are now major parts of society (even more than now, in real life). And that's why hackers are so bad.

Robots also exist, and, of course, they're controlled by computers.

I was trying to keep some of this stuff secret so I can surprise people in the RP when I reveal stuff and have plot twists and whatnot, but that's probably a bad idea, huh? People should understand all of this before the RP starts. Bad thinking/planning on my part.

Also, in the IC thread, I had one of my characters, Danny, tell Wolfsong's character, Andy, to meet him at a Walmart.

I probably should've chosen somewhere else. Not many stores still exist. Amazon and other services have replaced stores.

Right now, in 2014, Amazon has been testing drones to deliver packages to houses within certain radii of their warehouses. The RP is in 2034, so the drones have probably gotten popular and much more efficient.

There are only a few Walmart stores still around in the RP, and they'll soon go out of business as well due to these drone delivery services replacing them.

Why go to the store when you can order groceries with the computer embedded in your brain and have drones deliver your groceries to you within a few minutes?



Now, back to the robots.

There are police robots, but it's only 2034 so they still have bumps to rough out. There are still a lot of human police officers, since the police bots need more work. However, areas with high crime rates, like parts of New York (where the RP is currently taking place-- I also forgot to mention that earlier... I'm not a very good GM, am I?), have the police robots out patrolling 24/7.


The 2045 Initiative (http://2045.com) has completed Avatar A, and they are one year away from rolling out Avatar B (the most important one).

In eleven years (2045) they will release Avatar C, but it's completely optional.

I don't think any of that will have very much to do with the RP, though... yet.


I've been imagining New York as really dark and gloomy as I write, just barely illuminated by lights on the sides of the road (powered by the Solar Roadways I linked in the quote above).


I just really rushed and briefly went over stuff. If you'd like me to explain more, just tell me.




Edit: Also, yes, we could use more RPers. Preferably an FBI agent, since I'm the only one with an FBI character.
I'm usually hesitant to have more than two people in a roleplay, since then we'd have to wait on more than one person, but just three people won't hurt anything.

Considering it's required to have at least 3 players in an RPG here on the forum (including yourself), I have a reason to lock up your RP right now.
