Summer

Summer smiled at the lake. It was SO beautiful!
She took Xavier's hand. "Come on Xavier... Lets go get you baptized.
Once she took off Xavier's clothes, Summer led him to Joanne.
"Its all you Joanne," Summer said smiling.

Revel peeped through the window and glanced between Karin and Trevor. Well?
Well what?
Are you going to ask?

To hold the baby, of course!
Trevor stared at the crying baby in Eulalia's arms. I don't think that's a good idea...
Karin gingerly took the baby back, calming it down. How about now? Revel asked.
Fine.
Trevor slowly walked over behind Karin and tapped her shoulder softly.

He didn't even raise an eyebrow when the baby began crying. He saw Karin take back Zoe and relaxed. That only made me more cautious.

"Wow Joanne. Your really pretty. But. Why'd you take out your ponytail?

Joanne came out of the trance speaking in the angelic language creates.
"I have to remove my ponytail because the ribbon counts as clothing. Sometimes I wish I hadn't had Sophia cut my hair when I became a mage, but it was part of the ceremony. It was a symbol of me leaving my old life behind. As for the language, Sophia taught me the language of the angels. I could bless the water without using it, but I like to use their language instead. It's just so beautiful."
Xavier looked up at his mother. "All right, mother, I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be." he said brightly. "I never thought I'd be so nervous for my own baptism."
"I'm sure Sophia would love to call you her son." assured Joanne. "You are so energetic, it's time we put that energy to good use."
--Therese--
"Oh, you're Eruan, right?" said Therese. "Ariel's told me a lot about you. She's very proud of you."
She turned to Shiro. "Don't worry about it. It took me a long time to fit into my town. But I want you to realize something. Your family will never go away. Come out of that shell. I'm sure they want you as a friend and sibling."

Ai watched the baptism take place. Then, suddenly realizing Joanne and Summer needed towels and solfun, she ran to fetch them. When she came back, she put the items on the bank.

"I can help hold Xavier while you do the baptism," she told Joanne.
She quickly went and took Xaviers hand.
She smiled at him. "Don't worry buddy. Sophia will be very proud of you," she told him.

Joanne nodded. "Yes, and when I'm done, hand me the jar of solfun on the bank. That's Ai for you. She always puts duty ahead of anything else. I instilled that in her. Don't expect her to talk much."
She turned to her son, who could barely keep still. "Now then, Xavier, do you accept Sophia as your mother, guide, and protector?"
Xavier beamed. "Do you even have to ask? Of course I do! She's done so good for you, nokisme."
(note to sarahjoy78: nokisme is the native word for mother)
Joanne laughed. "He's all yours, Summer, dunk him in the water."

"That's more like it, Shiro. You see, you have a family now. Just like you always wanted." Therese said, and hugged Shiro.

Summer

SUmmer was fascinated at the baptism. She was thrilled that she could help.
But, as she was helping with Xavier she knew it was getting closer to her turn.
What if Sophia doesn't accept me? What if I'm to bad. I have done a lot of bad things before. She was snapped out of her thoughts when Joanne asked her to dunk Xavier.
Summer did as told and smiled at Xavier. "See buddy. That wasn't so bad," she told him.

Joanne read Summer's thoughts as if she'd said them. Do not be concerned about your past. My husband and your sister both had dark pasts, and yet Sophia accepted them.
She took Xavier by the hand and took some solfun out of the jar. Then she marked his forehead with the oil and began drying him off.
"That was it?" Xavier asked. "That was all I was nervous about?"
Joanne laughed. "Yes, my son, it is finished." Once he was dry, she helped him put his clothes back on.
"All right Summer, it's your turn." said Joanne as she waded back in. Then she held Summer firmly and asked "Do you accept Sophia as your mother, guide, and protector?"

Summer was terrified as Joanne asked her if she accepted Sophia as her guide.
A thousand thoughts raced through her mind. Sudenly, she felt a sensation of peace.

Joanne nodded and gently lowered Summer into the lake. Then she took her by the hand and marked her forehead with the oil from her jar, letting out a pleasant cinnamon aroma.
"Welcome to the family, my daughter." she said.
"Hey, that means you're my new big sister now!" said Xavier. He hugged Summer warmly.

As Joanne lowered Summer into the water, Summer was frightened.
But. Once she came back up she felt renewed. She felt peaceful.
She felt like she could run a thousand miles without stoping!
Summer smiled when Xavier hugged her. "Yes. I am your newest sister,"she told him.
Summer turned to Joanne. "Thank you so much for everything Joanne," Summer told Joanne.
Summer went and put back on her clothes. She smiled.
I have a family. I TRULY have a family, she thought.

Lobinka sensed that nightfall was coming closer.
We're to do Mother's will tonight, Emily. She forced Raphael and Aaliyah out of their mind. She wriggled free of her bonds, ran out the room, and jumped out a window. You know we won't be able to run for long. Lobinka snorted. I don't expect to do much running. Once night falls, we'll take the child and leave. Then maybe we can come to terms with each other. Lobinka sighed. Maybe even make peace with each other. Emily faltered. Maybe...

Karin finished giving Zoe her first bath. After she got herself dressed and put a onesie on Zoe, she placed the baby in her crib. She kissed the baby good night, and together she and Gorry retired.
