new? you mean you've already had one?
"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close

North Island or South Island of NZ? I hear they're quite different from each other. I may visit NZ in the next year or two! I'm excited. So... where would you recommend I go?

Have fun on CAA!

I'm definitely already having fun on CAA. There's a lot of awesome people here :beams:

I'm from the North Island - couldn't survive down there in the cold of the South Island, away from all the beautiful fishing and swimming and lack of snow up here. Eeeek - snow. I'm too terrible at skii-ing and snowboarding for that, too, so I stay up here in the warm :)

We-ell... if you're interested at in in LotR, there should be some sort of site on the web if you search google that will tell you all the locations it was filmed - that or there are a lot of location guidebooks in the stores here. Otherwise - in our Summer, you should check out the Hauraki Gulf if you're into fishing/boating, Goat Island if you're into snorkelling wish big fishies in a marine reserve (went there a few years back though so can't remember it that well), the mudpools in Rotorua (and the luge up there too).

There's also pretty good ski-ing and snowboarding in many of the mountains etc. There's the shotover jet, the bungee (of course ;) ), vertical bungee, glow-worm caves, whitewater rafting (I think) and of course tons of wildlife reserves and zoos and the like wherever you go. I think you can also go right down the bottom of the country to Stuart Island which I also think is a wildlife reserve and see our rare native animals. And there's whale and dolphin-watching boats where you can go out and see the animals in the sea.

I'm not the best advertiser of NZ though, apart from enthusiam ;) . There's a lot more to do that I can't remember right now - but there are a lot of places to go depending on your interests. Anyhow, if you do end up going I hope you have a lot of fun.

Whoa. Long post. Hope it was informative anyhow, and thank you for the welcome (though not so much for the lick....)

Well, I would say something witty and charming, but unfortunately I seem to be fresh out of originality. Grr...

Oh well. Welcome and have fun. And you should use the shoutbox! :thumb:

Greetings and salutations to you also.

Hmm... lets see what I do. *sends two kiwi on a piece of driftwood over to you with the words 'witty and charming' painted in steadily more distorted letters on their sides (one word to each bird) so that you can always claim to have wit and charm!*

I will have fun. And I will try to use the shoutbox. :)

Thank you and God bless you.

Thank you! - you guys all prompted me to do another avatar, now - I hope you find it as cute as the last one (at least it has a better background ;) ).

I've got to admit, though, when you do an image large then resize it so it's that tiny, it looks a great deal better than when it first began (it seems more detailed because it's more compact). Still - I thank you for your compliments of my avatar(s)!

Thank you, Esoteric!

You've been to NZ! :) That's awesome. Sometimes you run into people who don't know where I am - or at least who I can tell went to look at an online map and info site so they didn't offend me ;) .

Your Uncle's from Wellington? Cool! I went down there for a school trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got to go in and see a parliament session - and accidentaly called a camera-man a pigeon! (long story... ok not that long :P ).

God bless.

Enjoy your time here.

I agree - us ANZACs should stick together - if I'm the only (so far known) kiwi here then some people have got to know about moas and the flightless kiwi and all the other typically endangered flightless birds that live in NZ,

Weird thing. There are more possums then people or sheep here in New Zealand - so many that they're a real nuisance - and they're endangered over in the place they originally came from - Australia! :shakes head: I wish we could help each other out by shipping the possums back to you! ;) .

Seriously, though - Australia is a great place, and so are you Aussies (nationalistic rivalry aside). I've been there a few times and really enjoyed it. I have a feeling that I'm going to meet a lot more Aussies before this thread dies... and I'm going to thoroughly enjoy doing so, too.

So thanks heaps for your welcome - and go ANZACs! :D

Take care and God bless both you and our two countries.

Another Fruits Basket fan! Yeah!!

I'm Mangafanatic. But you can (and should) call me Osaka. It's my nickname.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hey Osaka!

Yeah! Go Fruits Basket! :thumb: I've only seen episodes 1, 2, 3, and 8 :bang: but hopefully that'll be remedied soon! I'm really enjoying the series.

Thanks for the welcome. :D
