I used to do greyhat network security as a hobby for a short time, and that was my handle in the group. I was combining jackals with hacker as word play. Jackals are good hunters and sort of felt like a last laugh sort of idea. (oddly enough someone went around the web and started using my handle as a user name places it didn't exist before I used it, my original use was pretty public, so sometimes I now have to you Jhackler1 or one.) Mostly did stuff like messing up terrorist recruiting sites or anonymously telling legitimate organizations of security holes that we managed to find.

In those cases of legitimate organization, (anything not terrorist or child porn sites) we never damaged their site or kept any information we found. I quite doing that a while ago and just liked the name. Besides some people where quite nice when you detailed an exploit that could leave there users in danger, others would attempt to have you hunted down and arrested. Which was understandable to a point, and part of why I stoped. However they would generally go without fixing things that where incredibly easy to use exploit and dangerous to users. I was young at the time.

For obvious reasons we don't disclose the exact cutoff. Call it "sufficient approved activity." It's not a high bar, however.

Thanks, and just so you guys know I started doing video reviews of anime. Each episode has different issues but the quality is getting better. Already took some more feedback and self criticisms into account and am working on the script for the next episode.
