[font="Arial"][color="Teal"]Hai. :3 -waves-, -then does the wave by herself- o-o;
My name's michelle, but you can call me Yin.
(No there is no correlation between birth name and nickname, the nickname just kind of happened) and, it's probably obvious given the venue, but I'm a Christian who's very fond of the anime-con-going-otaku-culture. I like PC games, video games, anime, manga(although I dont really read as much as I watch things o-o), and I LOVE going to anime cons +0+. I love to cosplay, I don't mind crossplay, (in fact I have done it before, I was simon from Tengen toppa gurren lagann), and I accept all the strange weird and even sometimes pervy nature that comes with this culture in general. Honestly, I was surprised there was a Christian anime-loving group, on the count of most animes (at least the ones I've seen lately) have always got a pervy and or violent nature to it. I'm glad to see other brothers and sisters in Christ accepting the abnormalities and (sometimes!) offensive nature of anime in general. Although it has never been offensive to me in any way.
Anywhoooooo, I shall tell you more about myself. I'm a girl. :O Kind of obvious given my name and the crossplay thing earlier, but yeah. I'm 17, homeschooled for the past few years, I love what you would (or wouldn't?) call "otaku" culture. I know some people find that term incorrect, but I'm referencing the americanized definition of the word.
and, well, I don't have many Christian anime-loving friends, so I'm glad I found this site :3! I've attended two anime conventions, I know it's not that many, but I intend on going to every one I'm physically able to in the future!
. So, well, yeah. Some of my favorite or recently watched animes include:
TTGL (Tengen toppa gurren lagann)
FMA (Full metal alchemist)
Death note
Ouran High school host club
Chobits (Just started watching this!)
Pokemon! oh man, I really love pokemon..
Code Geass (haven't seen all of it, but I like what I see)
Vampire Knight (watched only the first season, also like it >.<!)
Fruits Basket (This was my first anime
aside from pokemon/dbz, whatevs.)
DBZ (duh ^)
Yugioh
Avatar the last airbender (the only american-made anime that I liked so far :I)
Evangelion (intense. o-o)
Lucky Star
I've heard of/seen some of the popular ones, naruto, inuyasha, bleach, etc. I can recognize all the characters but I've never watched any of them through :S I've seen a decent amount of naruto, though. I'm not too crazy about REALLY long anime, I kindof like mechas, psychological ones (deathnote, etc) and cute animes about nothing. (Lucky star, ouran host club, chobits, etc xD)
I do love Vocaloid as well, which is not an anime, but it almost feels like it is. xD
I've also seen some of Gravitation, but, I honestly didn't like it too much. Aside from the fact that it is in fact yaoi, It just didn't captivate me. o-o; I was poking around on the forums earlier in a discussion about anime-cons, and I see that a lot of the userbase here is very put off by yaoi/yuri in general, which is to be expected in a Christian community. XD I would just like to say, I do put my faith first, I love God and try my best to obey his commands, but I am not offended nor do I turn my nose at yaoi/yuri. I *personally* think it's funny and cute (when in an anime con setting as well) although as I said, I have not really watched a yaoi/yuri series because I'm not into stories in which the main plot is based on the subject of sexuality. Also, hardcore yaoi/yuri, yeah, I can do without that. No arguements there.
I have to say, on my anime-con adventures though, I do find myself cheering and getting giggly when two cosplayers or crossplayers, whether they be F/M, M/M, F/F, hug and or give each other a peck on the cheek. I find it funny and cute, but I don't.. "appreciate it in an inapropriate way". Let's just put it at that.
Like, the first time I went to animeNEXT, during the pre-show of the masquerade, the camera was put on two cosplayers that were L and Light from deathnote. They saw this, and to get a rise out the crowd, grabbed each other in a hug and smooched in a light-hearted manner. I believe they were both girls. :S at the time I happened to find this hilarious and adorable. I hope this type of humor doesn't offend anyone here. If it does, I'll be sure to keep those stories/opinions to myself.
ANYWHOOOx2, I hope to get to know the community here, as I would love to make some Christian friends with similar hobby interests.
So, tell me about yourself too.
Got any crazy con stories to tell?
Favorite animes?
Favorite kind of music?
Favorite kind of question? (a question within a question! IT'S INCEPTION!
)
also, I am extremely amused that this is an emoticon
