Also saw this one with my wife. We were impressed with the portrayals of Paul (James Faulkner, most recently Randyll Tarly in Game of Thrones) and Luke (Jim Caviezel), but particularly the (apparently fictional) prefect of Mamertine Prison, played by Olivier Martinez. The plot meanders somewhat and there are some anachronisms, and the subplot with the prefect's ill daughter was embarrassingly transparent, but the ending scene is truly moving. There are a lot of bad Christian movies but I'm relieved to say this one is serviceable. I'd rate it "worth watching on Netflix."
Fun fact: along with James Faulkner, a fair bit of the crew in Malta where the majority of the movie was filmed were also from Game of Thrones.
