So, I went to see Sherlock Holmes today with my family and I thought it was awesome!

I especially like the soundtrack of it and how it looks in general.

Has anyone else seen it?

Yup, went to see it today! I thought it was great; Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law had great chemistry on screen. XD Overall, it was a fun action movie. XD

So I take it the movie isn't much like the originals?

Aside from the mustache and the pipe, no. XD It's still a fun movie though, and worth seeing if only for a good time at the theaters. XD

I really want to see it. I like the old ones a lot, and I know its not supposed to be much like them, but I still really want to see it. :D

Yeah, it's not quite like the old ones; however, it is a new breath of life in the series and I think it is a very fun movie to see.

I wonder if they do sequels of it, the ending was left open.

Oh, I fully expect a sequel. XD There's no way that they don't have a sequel planned, with an ending like that. XD

Gonna go see it in like 2 hours with my sisters and dad! I don't know much about the movie, but I think I'll like it!

It was awesome! :D Just didn't really like some of the "magic" things.

I went to see it today and enjoyed it very much. I think they kept the original Sherlock Holmes stories feel, yet adding more action. A LOT more action. Holmes was more of a go to guy rather than the behind the scenes genius. But it still worked out in the end.
And while I understand who Irene Adler is and why she is important in the Sherlock series (for one story mind you), I think they could have done without her in the movie. She did prove somewhat important to the plot (with introducing Professor Moriarty and such), but still... :\
Yes indeed! I like the fact they left it open. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel.

I do agree with you here, though the story did make a few important points about it which I liked in the end.
Where Holmes expels all the "magic" use with logic in the end. Plus, it was mostly the bad guys who claimed to use "magic". The fact Holmes preformed the thing himself was a bit...bleh, but yeah. I was overall satisfied that Holmes didn't suddenly go out of character and start believing in magic and stuff.
Overall though, cool movie. Wonderful music too.

I've been hesitant to see it, fearing they would screw it up. I may have to go check it out now though, if it's as good as you all say.

@ Goldy- Yeah.
I remember what Sherlock said even before going with what he deduced from the pentagram. "Well, I dirtied my fluffy, white tail in the process, but in the end coming out enlightened." Sherlock didn't approve of the magic, but had to look into it to get inside the enemies' minds and see who the next victims were. And in the end disproved of all the magic that had happened and gave no shadow of doubt on any of the "tricks" that were performed.
I'll be honest:
I only give this movie a B+...
It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amaazing either. In my opinion.

The action was great! I loved the action... except it didn't really feel like Sherlock Holmes... (I can't really see him having a boxing competition and beating the tar out of someone lol.) But I do realize this was a newer vision of our favorite detective from Baker Street. :D

I also didn't appreciate the magic use, nor the Biblical references that the bad guys associated themselves with. It left a bad taste in my mouth and kind of offended me. (why did they have to tie their craziness in with Christianity? XD) Nor did I appreciate Holmes kind of mocking Jesus' rising on the third day. (call me sensitive, but God can not be mocked ya know?)

The plot also took about an hour to start... and for a long time I was like "what the heck is this movie about?" O_o

Buuut! yah! I did like the interactions between Holmes and Watson! haha! they were great and I loved them both! Watson was my favorite character though :P

Overall, a pretty good film. But I won't be seeing it in theaters again.

Though, if you recall, Sherlock was a boxing champion in his younger years. (I can't recall offhand which of Doyle's Sherlock stories mentioned this, but take my word for it). But, he didn't use his skills in the stories as much as he did in this movie. Though, judging by where on the Holmes timeline they put this story, the idea of Holmes being a bit more active (fighting wise) is not tooo farfeatched. XD;

I totally agree with you ChristianKitsune I would also give it a B+ because of the same reasons you mentioned.
Overall it was better than Avatar which I wish I hadn't seen, but that's another story.
Still I did miss Sherlock's hat, lol. :P

I always equate Homes as a British Batman only he has no need of a costume, secret identity and a secret cave. Besides look how many versions of Batman are out there? :P

I saw this movie today and the only thing that I like was seeing the Iron Man 2 trailer.

I saw it and I thought it was a good abstraction of the Holmes character.
The one magic trick that was never explained was why the young women who were "sacrificed" would want to stab themselves with a knife. That was never explained.
