"Searching for his missing sister, Clay heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins that lie in wait behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing hiding under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has with the help of a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all—thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history - the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake armed with a razor-sharp machete…Jason Voorhees."

Honestly, as far as I can see from the Trailer, this is going to be one of the best movies of 2009, for sure!
And just to clarify, it's not a remake. It's more of a retelling. People may say "But Pamela Voorhees was the killer in the first!" Well, just to let you know, she's included. I'm pretty sure it covers 1-3 or possibly even 4.

Anybody as stoked as I am?

Yeah, it looks awesome! I didn't like the very first Friday movie very much; this one looks way better.

I'd still say that a "retelling" counts as a remake though.

Uh, didn't they call no. 5 the Final Chapter? Why do they keep bringing him back?

Try reading the first post Rock. It's a retelling. Kind of a mix of a few of the films though. We see him with the burlap sack, they show what happens to his mother, and he gets the hockey mask. Everything I have seen tells me this movie will be amazing. So yes, this horror fan is very stoked.

Number 4 was "the Final Chapter" and they called it that because, at the time, they thought it would be the end of the series. Then they decided to make more, so 5 was "A New Beginning" ^^.

Yeah, with the Fake Jason.
Part IV was by far my favourite. But, this one may succeed it.

My least favourite are: A New Beginning, The New Blood, and obviously Jason X.

At least Rob Zombie isn't involved!

I liked his remake of Halloween. And now he's apparently remaking the sequel.

Not to sidetrack things, but Rob did an amazing job on the Halloween film. Anyone that says otherwise...Heh. I guess nostalgia really is a strong thing.

Scared Jamie Lee Curtis beats you with a bent coat-hanger....means you fail at horror movie villain 101.

Well, friends. Today's the big day!
Anyone getting out their hockey masks, machetes, and that old Friday the 13th T-Shirt that doesn't even fit you anymore and heading to the movies?

This was, for me, a "certain crowd" flick. And, man, I totally had that certain crowd! The girls screamed, the guys told jokes, it was hilarious! Also worth noting, the soundtrack was composed by Steve Jablonski who also did Gears of War 2 and The Sims 3.

It was definitely a "certain crowd" flick. I wouldn't want to watch it again, but with my group of friends and the general crowd, it was entertaining. It was pretty much what I expected, though (which was gratuitous nudity and violence).

It was okay, but that will be my last rated R movie. (I wasn't very fond of the nudity or the language.) The crowd really didn't make that much noise. They only laughed when someone got killed in a weird way. Im starting to think that everybody except the killer is an idiot.

Jason apparently was pretty brilliant in the movie from what I heard. Also, more human than zombie.
I heard that it ended similar to II where one of the people pretend to be Pamela Voorhees and then stabbed him in the chest.
But, how did his face look behind the mask. Mixture of III and IV?

I didn't say Jason was the idiot. I said everyone else was.

I'm not sure he was a zombie at all. Just some poor kid with a homicidal mother left to tend for himself. In all honesty, the only supernatural stuff was the mysterious way the water seems to bring him back to life. That's. It.

I know. I was just saying that.
Basically, I find anyone who is killed in a slasher flick is not all there in the head.

Isn't it better to say:
"Oh, the powers gone out. I'll just go down into the basement and temper with the fuse box then get struck from behind by a serial killer wielding an axe who's hiding behind the boxes. And if I don't show up in 10 minutes, come on down and get your share too. ;)"

I saw it on opening night. The crowd was very enthuisastic, they kept clapping and cheering at everything Jason did. It was quit an expierience

Overall, the movie was good, better than the original one at least, but not as great as I'd hoped. Almost every character was a moron, and between their ludicrous over-the-top behavior and the super excessive "out there" violence (Like the dock scene) the movie almost seemed like a parody of a slasher movie. I'm also really tired of horror movies using the cat scare trope. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CatScare)

@ Etoh- Yeah, the entire crowd laughed when that happened! You should know that you can't hide from Jason.
