Anyone been watching the games? Been some good close games thus far. I am watching the Minnesota Philly game right now. So far I guessed wrong on the first 3 playoff games haha.

I hate the fact you started this thread.
Not only does it make me angry about this year but it reminds me of last year's Super Bowl...probably the most depressing moment of my sports-watching life.
Now that the NFL is currently dead to me, I shall continue watching the Bruins slaughter and start following UFC again.

Hahaha. Lemme guess, Pats fan? So far my picks have been terrible in the post season. I did good in the regular season though. 0/4 in Playoff pics though. Hopefully I do better in the second round. I was just proud of my Raiders though. They knocked Tampa Bay out of playoff contention. I guess at this point I would like to see the Steelers go all the way. As long as San Diego loses I will be happy though.

Im still faithful in my state team. I mean they once played in the super bowl a few years ago. I hope the Panther's could do it again.

I would not be bummed if they went all the way. I was rooting for them when they played the Pats in the big game.

Here's a toast to your continued unhappiness, then.

What a miserable season it's been... the Packers managed to lose game after game in the most heart-wrenching ways possible. The Vikings are gone, so that's good. Now the only thing I hope for is for the Steelers to lose, and it won't matter who wins it all (though I'm sort of rooting for the Giants to repeat).

XD I'm rooting for whatever, because after football that means only two weeks till my favorite sport to start again 8D.
Seriously though, I was amazed by the Philly/Vikings game last night! that was a really cool game as was the San Diego game...
Anyone but the Giants, and I'll be happy with whoever wins XD. Eli and Payton Manning drive me crazy... so i dont lke the Colts or the Giants... xD

The mentioning of the devastation that was brought forth from the results of the super bowl and the fact I'm from New England (as you know), should've made that quite clear.

I greatly enjoyed all the games so far. Indy and San Diego was probably my favorite though.
Went 3/4 for my picks last weekend. The only one I guessed wrong was Atlanta and Arizona, I really though Atlanta would blow them out. :/
My picks for this week:
Blatimore over Tennessee
Pitsburgh over San Diego
Carolina over Arizona
Philadelphia over New York

I got Baltimore over Tenn, Pitt over SD, Carolina over Arizona and NY over Philly.

Ah man, now I'd feel bad if I recounted my joy of the last Super Bowl. For me, it was shear joy that New England missed the post season entirely. I guess they really did need to cheat to be successful.
I was right, I do feel a little bit bad about writing that.
I'll pick Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Carolina, and New York.
I would not be sad if Carlina won the Super Bowl unless they beat the Steelers to do it.

Yeah that would be sad. I mean I do love Carolina as my state team, but I also like the Steelers, so yeah.
It would be something if Carolina actually made it to the superbowl again, but I won't expect much so I won't end up depressed.

Heh. Termyt...you just sound bitter that New England was doing good.
I hate the team, but I hate it even more when people say they only won because they cheated. Did they give the Jets the same crap when they got caught? No. They did not even really mention it much. The Pats got caught doing what most teams in the league did....let it go. They also finished 11-5 this year. It's kinda sad that 8-8 teams like SD and Arizona are even in the Playoffs with 11-5 teams sitting out...but that's what happens when your in a crappy division.

I just want my Ravens to win today.

Well Rushia you got your wish. :p
Man that was one crazy game though. Players going out the whole time, but the loss of Chris Johnson REALLY hurt the Titans. They looked awful in the third quarter, and they came back in the fourth pretty good but they just could not hold on to that ball.

I did get my wish! XD
Now to find out if we're playing Pittsburgh or San Diego. If it's Pittsburgh, my college will be alllllll yellow and black, and my hall mate won't stop making Baltimore jokes until the game, XD.

Wow...I still have no clue how Baltimore won that game. It seriously looked like they were going to break at any moment during that game. But way to go Flaco, you weren't great but you didn't lose the game and that's all that can be asked from a rookie quarterback.

I was happy how the Baltimore game went. Good close game. Now if SD loses all can be ok.

It's all most half time and I can't believe Arizona is beating Carolina 27 to 7. If they win this game, I'm offically picking the Cardinals to win the Superbowl. I still want the Panther's to win though. Come on Carolina, make a come back!

I think its a little too early for that...but wow Carolina is playing bad...I mean Arizona is playing good don't get me wrong...but Carolina is literally falling apart before our very eyes.

Im depressed now. Yeah the Panthers are playing like crud. I kinda didn't expect Arizona to get that many turnovers from the Panthers.
Oh well at least I didn't expect much.

I have lots of clues. Example: Tennessee players can't hold the ball in their arms, Kerry Collins TWICE missed a snap...yeah. Three turnovers aren't good, and like I said, losing Chris Johnson hurt BAD. The Tennessee offense looked completely different with him gone.
Anyway what the crap. Carolina SUCKED tonight. Horribly. Ugh.

Wow, I can't believe Arizona beat Carolina that badly. I was really hoping the Panthers would go all the way this year, but it looks like that isn't going to happen now. Anyways, like I said earlier, my pick to win the Super Bowl now is the Arizona Cardinals.
In fact, they remind me a lot of the 2006 Colts. Remember how, back in 2006, most people claimed the Colts to be dead at the end of the season after the Jags ran for 375 yards on them in one of the last games of the season, but they ended up tightening up that atrocious run defense and went all the way? That defense has tightened up a lot since the end of the season and they've finally started to run the ball efficiently with Edgerin James. I'm really starting to think they can do it.

Wow. Bummed my pick was off...but awesome that Philly knocked NY out. Philly and Arizona for the NFC crown. And Baltimore SD/Pitt.
If Pitt can pull the win off (its 7-7 now) I would be so thrilled. Any of the 4 teams remaining deserve a Superbowl. Arizona making it would be a cool story. San Diego must lose. Then the circle of awesome will be complete.
I must add this.

Well, I picked those games really well. At least I got the important one right.
I'd love to see the Cards in the Super Bowl now. They are, statistically speaking, the oldest and worst franchise in the NFL. The represent over a century of loosing. (Somewhere around 20 winning seasons in about 110 years of football)
[quote="Stephen (post: 1280934)"]Heh. Termyt...you just sound bitter that New England was doing good. ] Naw, I'm not bitter. I just love to poke New England fans. It's obviously a mathematical oddity whenever an 11-5 team misses the playoffs, so that opens the door for saying that, as good as they are, they obviously need to cheat since an 11-5 record w/o cheating still wasn't good enough for them when it's a virtual lock for anyone else.
However, if most teams do it anyways, then New England deserves the punishment/ribbing/ill will even more for doing it so badly as to be the only one to get caught.

I dunno, even worse than the Detroit Lions? That doesn't sound right...though I do know that the Cardinals are one of the six teams that has never made an appearance in the Super Bowl.
It'd be cool to see them make it, but I don't think they have a chance sadly.

In recent years the Lions have been horrible, however he was referring to their respective work throughout each franchises history. The Lions have a championship (I think) and had Barry Sanders. The Cardinals have neither.

The Lions have won 4 Championships - the last one in 1957.
The Cards have won 2 Championships - the last in 1947.
(They actually won 3, but the first came before the NFL even formed, so I didn't count it.)
The Cardinals have a record 56 loosing seasons (or a 0.325 average) to the Lions 39 loosing seasons (0.435)
Over all W/L/T records (not including post-season) - Cards: 0.412, Det: 0.454
Trips to the Playoffs (since the merger) - Cards: 5 (3 Division titles), Det: 9 (3 Division titles)
Neither team has been to a Super Bowl and both teams have gone two seasons without a win.
I say the Cardinals are the worst because they have a history of sucking that dates back into the 19th century, but allow me to do the same analysis for two other teams:
Cincinnati:
22 of their 41 seasons ended in loosing records - a 0.353 average.
Overall W/L/T: 0.435
Championships: 0 (0-2 in Super Bowls)
Trips to the Playoffs: 8 (5 Division titles, 2 AFC titles)
And it gets worse if you are a fan of New Orleans:
The Saints were formed in 1967 but didn't see the post season until 1987. They did not win their division until 1991.
You don't even need to take off your shoes to count the number of winning seasons they've put up - a dismal 0.229 average.
Overall W/L/T: 0.411
Championships: 0 (0 Super Bowl Appearances)
Trips to the Playoffs: 6 (3 Division titles)
Detroit is at least as good as Cincinnati at being bad, but they are not in the same league of stench that New Orleans emanates, let alone the century long stench of the Cards.
