Writers announced for the Robotech movie

mania.com wrote:The Hollywood Reporter has a new blurb out with some new updates regarding the big picture adaptation of the Robotech. The 1980's adaptation of three different anime series into English which ran for 85 episodes has taken on Alfred Gough and Miles Millar as the new scribes for it after the previous treatment by Lawrence Kasdan. Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello. Gough and Millar are expected to be able to ensure a good action adaptation while also providing the right nods for the geek fanset that has become intimately familiar with the property in the last twenty plus years. The duo are more recently known for their work on the "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Spider-Man 2" as well as being the showrunners on TV's "Smallville" for many years.

Okay, this is gonna be good. Gough and Millar are possibly the best people who could do something like this. They helped make Smallville a bright spot, and I think their treatment of Robotech (Macross) would end up working beautifully. I'll give them a shot, then buy my brother a ticket for the movie when it comes out.

Gough and Miller are good choices. Here's hoping they do it right. :)

Oh man, I hope they do this right, because it is one of the few anime that could be adapted pretty easily to live action and still be good. (Anyway I'm going to go and have a fan-boy moment now.)
