Josh Schwartz, the creator of Gossip Girl and The OC, will write X-Men: First Class, a new feature from Fox, according to the Hollywood trades. The plan is to use younger characters, perhaps those introduced as students at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning in the earlier X-Men features.

Fox will release X-Men Origins: Wolverine next May (see “Wolverine Castâ€

Oh boy! More X-Men films that will suck! I would think after slaughtering the story with the first 3 crapfests, they would slap Fox on the wrist and not let them make movies anymore. *sigh*

Unfortunately, once they've sold the movie rights, they would have to buy them back. :/ Otherwise, I'd be expecting Spider-man and a couple X-Men to drop in on the Avengers movie.

OT: This looks like it's going to be the "Smallville" of X-Men. Hrm. I'll withhold judgment until the series premieres. Maybe it'll be good.

He's been in the Avengers a few times on and off. I wouldn't expect him there as a regular Avenger, but I'd expect a cameo, since he's Marvel's most popular hero.

I kind of hope that it will be somewhat like Smallville version of the X-men and not the 1996 failed Generation X tv movie.

Depends on how it's done. Then again, I'm one of those who is more interested in the stand alones and how they could be marketed.

Expect a rise in the superhero genre as the American economy goes deeper into a recession.

Oh, why hasn't anyone thought of this sooner? Instead of them being crime fighting mutant superheros, they can all be plastic, drama queens! [/bitter sarcasm]

It was bad enough they had to torture my fan-girlness with those awful movies, but now this? Why?! Maybe they will portray Kurt Wagner correctly this time. (yeah, like that's going to happen)

To be fair, when I think freakish mutant teens with a tendency to be angsty, I think Gossip Girl.

To be fair, X-men has always kept character relationships at the heart of any of their stories.

Also: I read awhile back that it was going to be a movie.
