Football time is upon us once again, and while I still bask in the glow of New England's crushing defeat in the Super Bowl last year, I realize it is time to begin a new season's worth of talk.

I may even quit reminding everyone that New England's cheated a ton during their recent run of success, but who knows?

I've set up a Pro Football pick'em league over at yahoo for all those interested.

In order to join the group, just go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem, click the "Sign Up" button (or "Create or Join Group" if you are a returning user). From there, follow the path to join an existing private group and when prompted, enter the following information...

New England did not do anything that any of the other teams were not doing. They simply got caught. To say otherwise, makes you look like a pretty bitter fan. NE is one of the best teams of this era, and are due the respect they have. (This all coming from a Raiders fan that hates NE)

That may be true and perhaps I am bitter, but that's basically the "society's to blame" defense. I'd say if it's true that "everyone's doing it" it's a call for more enforcement, not an excuse to let someone off the hook. At the very least, throw the book at them for doing it so much poorly than everyone else as to get caught several times while nary a shred of evidence exists to implicate anyone else.

Not that I'm really looking to re-hash the whole discussion again. I'm pretty content to leave it in the last season. The NFL and all of the football elite certainly seem eager to do so.

Well, anyways, here's hoping my Jags can make a long run in the playoffs and end up in the Superbowl.

I am really hoping the Raiders do better this year. I don't think its a Superbowl year, but a playoff spot would be an awesome improvement.

The playoffs look to be pretty competitive this year in the AFC.

I would think the favorites for the division spots would be the Patriots (no competition), Steelers, Chargers, and Colts. The Browns, Broncos, and Jaguars have the best shot at upsetting those favorites. That’s already 7 teams with only 6 slots open to the post season.

I know the Ravens, Jets, Chiefs, and Raiders all want to make it this year, too, so it will be interesting to see who steps up and gets stepped on this season.

I'm not so sure about the Raiders. I think they still need one or two more years of rebuilding before they get into the playoff hunt, but that's just what I think. All though I do believe they will get above .500. Brett Farve is looking really good with the Jets and he'll help that team out a lot.

The Chargers just lost Shawn Merriman for the season, so that's going to hurt their defense. Well, no matter what happens it should be a very interesting, and competitive, season.

I Think The Cowboys Are Going To Go All The Way This Year

That could happen, but I think there are too many things stacked against them this year - like the top three or four teams in the AFC - one of which would most certainly meet them in the Super Bowl.

They are on the short list of NFC elite teams (unfortunately, they share a division with another – or perhaps fortunately, depending on your POV), but I'm not ready to say AFC dominance is going away yet.

I think a lot of folks are rooting for a Manning Bros match-up in the Super Bowl, now that they both have rings and talent around them, but I have a feeling the Jaguars may be the team to beat in the South this year.

Speaking of New England, I happened to catch their preseason game against Philadelphia. They gave up TWO touchdowns from kick returns? In the first half? WITHIN TWENTY MINUTES OF EACH OTHER? Man, that's just...what the crap.

Old age perhaps? Or just realizing that the preseason ultimately doesn't matter for them (I mean Brady wasn't even playing in that game as I remember...). They should be fine (I would think) once the season starts...right?

The pats always do horrible in preseason. Trust me, nobody is hoping for a crappier year for NE then I am. But I got a feeling the AFC is gonna come down to NE and Indy again.
