Dexter on CBS

I see that this is a Showtime series that CBS is airing (clearly pretty censored in parts) Even though I got a neutered version I loved the show. It is one of the more original ideas I had seen in a while. For those that don't know, the show is about a guy that kills killers. A serial killer that hunts other serial killers. Any other fans of the show?

Nope,I just heard about it myself. It does sound rather like he's a bit amoral.

It sounds kind of weird though that the network that gave us the CSI
franchise would be willing to add one where the protagonist is himself a criminal.
And no matter how you slice it(no pun intended)Dexter is to all intents and purposes as much a criminal as the ones he tracks down and kills.

Precisly why I'll go watch something else.......When will we ever have a character in tv that isn't depraved beyond what used to be known as "the moral line....?" I'm not looking for an all perfect hero/heroine/sidekick, etc., but one who realises his wrongs and instead of indluging in them fights against them.....

No offence to anyone who likes this show, I'm just honestyly looking for a tv series that will probably never be......

I'm enjoying the 2nd season a lot more than the 1st. Having Dexter under pressure of being exposed makes for terrific suspense.

Awesome W4J! I loved season 2. I have been downloading the episodes of season 3 as they air. I can't wait to buy the DVD for that. Jimmy Smitts has been awesome on season 3.

My Fiancee (a HUGE nerd for serial killers) and I (very NOT in to the very same thing) have been plowing through the DVDs at a feverish pace since we started watching. As I speak we are two episodes shy of finishing season 2. I love this show. I'm also not afraid to say that I actually like Dokes.

I keep hearing good things about this show...I've only read the books however (first two were great, third one was "bwuh?")

I loved books 1 and 2. 3 Made me sad because it should have been on par. I hated the introduction to the supernatural side of things. Hopefully book 4 that he is working on will go back to the first 2 style. And yes, you should check out the show. Most of the characters are perfect. Deb was yanked right from the pages lol. Her mouth anyway.

Ha, ha. Nice.
Is it true that Dexter isn't as three-dimensional in the original book (compared to the tv series?)

I haven't read the books, but he's a pretty full picture of a character. And not nearly as emotionless as he likes to believe.

In the books they made him much more emotionless and whatnot. Example. In the books he only dates Rita as to make himself blend in. In the show, he actually starts caring about her. They made him a dash more human in the show...which I am ok with.

CBS? I actually get that channel! XD I saw trailers for this show and loved the concept. I'm not one for gore (usually) or the same mix-and-match whodunnits, but I love suspense, thrillers, and above all- intelligent characters!

Watching it on CBS means you will get the censored version. They chop out any nudity, a good portion of the violence...and most the language. I don't know if CBS is airing season 2 or not. I know they aired season 1 though. To watch the show as it airs, you gotta have showtime.

Strange. In Australia they rate Dexter MA15+ and show it all.

Ah I forgot about that. I am sure all countries rate stuff different.

Let us not get sidetracked into ratings discussions. I think we should talk about how awesome it is that Showtime has signed Dexter to be at least 2 more seasons. Boosh.

I'm all for it as long as the quality of the series retains greatness.

Season 3 has been different. Good, but different. I think when it's all done, I will like Season 3 more than 2. 1 has still been the most gripping to me. But I have loved them all so far.

Something I was curious about. I know when they were discussing turning George RR Martin in to TV series they were discussing each book being a season. Is that how Dexter's working?

Not really. The show and the book are pretty different. The characters are the same...but the story is pretty different.

So no supernatural in season 3, eh?

Thankfully, no. I really was bummed he did that in book 3. It kinda came out of left field...and felt much different than books 1 and 2. Season 3 is mainly about Dexters relationship with Rita, the introduction of Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smitts) and a new killer known as the skinner.

Spent my out-of-town time watching season 1 and this weekend marathoning season 2.

I really, really, really hate Debra.
