I used to watch it but I can't handle the drama any more. It seems to me that the characters aren't allowed to be happy for more than five minutes.

In Australia we are so far behind. We're part way through Season 3. I think its a very interesting show and Lex Luthor has some great character dimension. But Lana and Clark are so hopeless sometimes. If I was Clark I would pursue Chloe (fun-loving, interesting, bubbly) not Lana. There have been some great episodes of late. My favourite being the one where Lex is drugged and thinks he is going crazy.
At times a mediocre show and and other times very entertaining. I recommend it.

It's actually the only tv show I watch now, so yeah I'm a fan
. Although I never put in the effort to go back and watch season 2 (the year school pretty much killed my tv watching, this is the only series I came back to anyway)

Where would the drama be in that though

True, but Chloe really is a spunk and exactly a year older than me! She was born July 29, 1982 and me July 29, 1983. I feel so loved! Um yes. (lol)
I prefer it to most of the Superman movies, literature because it has more dimension, more interesting characters - just more of the human condition as a whole.

What's wrong with Chloe? Sure she gets jealous a bit easily but she's really cute, good looking, great personality and fun-loving (and her hairstyle is awesome!).
What's not to love?

Lana is way cuter.
(Yes, I'm a girl, but I still think that.)
edit:
(I also like her personality better, but I understand everyone might not.)
What annoys me the most about the show is Clark always keeping secrets from her, even though he says he likes her so much.
edit again:
Sorry, I don't mean to bash the show. I really did like it for awhile and I can understand if other people do.
I really like the opening theme music, by the way.

No need to apologise Alice. Clark and Lana can't agree or express their feelings for each other - which annoys me to no end, but at least Chloe has a bit more 'life' to her.

Smallville rocks!
I've been a fan since the begining. I havent been able to touch up on the last two season however because of work and alot of church dramas I've been working in......and I'm seriously hurtin'. I need my Smallville fix, I really do.
I like the girl who plays Louis prsonally, (Erica Durnace...yeah I know her name, so what!) she just strikes me as fun going, and I luv that they developed Clark and Louis's relationship as a love/mostly hate relationship. I found that amusing. Oh your not into her now clark, but just you wait....just you wait
Lex's character has to be my fave though, the acting and the lines this guy gets can be so good at times....they can even be cheesy and still be better then some of the other actors. This guy was born to act, I'd like him to play other villans in the near future.
However, as much as I luv Smallville, it really needs to end, Clark was in Smallville for only so long. I think they will keep the series going till the movie comes out this year "Superman Returns" and then end it there. Then, pending on how much money is thrown out and whatnot, they might develop another series spun off the movie. I'm not looking forward to it don't get me wrong, but it's very much predictable sadly.
God bless,
Archan

How many seasons have screened in the U.S? Five?
I agree that Lex is a great character and the guy can really act and easily hogs the limelight from Lana, Clark and the others.
I want Lionel Luthor to die soon. He's a cruel man.
Regarding Lana and Clark. We are part way through season three here in Australia and they haven't even kissed or hugged yet (I don't think). I don't usually go for romance in tv shows/movies but seriously 3 seasons and they are still no closer to telling each other their feelings? Ifeel like screaming at them: "Just kiss each other already!" (lol)

*Laughs* Yeah, I was like that too when I first got into Smallville, those crazy teenagers and their issues with love Be patient Warrior 4 christ, it will come around. To bad you haven't seen the episodes with Louis though, they're pretty fun....
Fun fact, the Actor who plays Lex in Smallville is also the voice of the Flash in Justice League...a villan and a hero, go fig.
Alright, late and I'm sleepy,

well at the start they were sticking with the classic storyline for the most part, but now I think it's safe to say they've strayed quite a bit. I'm just enjoying this more believable/relatable character of superman.
As for the movie, I think I read somewhere that the directors of that wanted the series to end so as to not confuse people, but since the show is still doing well it will continue essentially ignoring whatever happens in the movie. (don't feel like checking facts on that, maybe someone else knows for sure)

the latest season has been stellar, some of the characters have realy developed, lana is not this cry baby character , I realy enjoyed the last season two when she has these evil powers neet stuff.. I think cloe and clark would be to close to being loise and clark, cloe and loise have some very close aspects, cool stuff, its the only tv series I watch realy other then 24 here and there, its cool.

I tried to watch the 100th episode last week, and I was so excited because in the beginning, things actually happened! (I'm not going to give spoilers, but suffice it to say, good things. Happy things.) Then within like ten minutes, everything was back to the way it used to be, except worse.
I just quit watching the episode. I guess happy endings don't go with continuing plots, but there's only so much of that I can stand.

Doh! so sorry about that, your brother succeded in his quest.....
But yeah hey good to see your around as well
As for Clark and all his misfortune, well it's kind of how things need to pan out if you think about it. His friendship with Lex needs to go to a point where it's not recoverable, because thats how things are when we are first introduced to them in Metropolis (When Clark is Superman that is), Clarks relationship with Lana can never really stay because that isn't who he ends up with. His relationship with Louis has to be love/hate because even when he turns into Superman, as Clark he and Louis always bumped heads hence adding to his successful secret identity and Louis never able to put two and two together, well at least till they get married. The only lose end they need to tie up is Chloe, and it looks like they might do that in the new upcoming episode. I actually thought they did do it back when Lex's dad pulled that stunt of his a few seasons ago (No spoilers, out fo curtosy for W4J) but, they still need to do it one way or another.
So yeah, all the misery isn't no biggie for me. Up up and away....
God bless,
Archan

I stopped watching when we moved into town and got cable. Some how it didn't interest me as much any more.
And while we're at it,why do they keep bringing in all the teenaged versions of the Justice League and every one Clark knows later on in Metropolis? It seems they run out of ideas and to mask it simply think WHAT NEW SUPERHERO CAN WE HAVE CLARK MEET NOW?
I think in a way Lois & Clark was the better series because it stuck more to
the canon.

Actually Mitsuki....
... they are planning on bringing the justice team together in this season according to future plot synopsis. I think the title of the episode is called Justice. Hence why they are introducing them to Clark. I believe the team is suppose to consist of Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Cyborg, no Wonder Woman and Batman because their are upcoming movies and the big wigs won't release them to the show supposely something conflict of interest...however that red tapes goes.
Smallville is one of my halfer shows; I only watch them if the episode is interesting enough or if there isn't anything else better to watch. ^_^
The main problem on the show is the same core characters always I mean always are getting kidnap or hurt in someway. I'm sure they are other people in the world who are in need of rescuing. It got to the point I wished the typical main character damsel/gent in distress of the week would just die already and let it be over with.
And the whole Clark and Lana thing was dragged out for far too long! It was sickening to watch.
One more pet peeve of the show was that kryptonite was mutating almost everything and everyone, especially the villain of the week. This kryptonite turn this girl into a vampire bat, this kryptonite made this girl a teleported, this guy got in contact in to kryptonite and now he is the abdominal snowman.
Outside out of those three major pet peeves the show is o-kay with me.

well, I agree that Lana should not have been a major character after season 2 or 3. She is annoying and Clark will ultimately end up with Lois anyway. I do think that Tom Welling is the perfect teenage Clark Kent though. and common, who here doesn't like Smallvilles version of Lex?

I like this version of Lexa lot and he is very handsome, but I thought Clark and Lex where never close or even friends?
Its seems like they wanted to do the whole Proffessor X and Magneto thing with the series. The Best friends/worst enemies is an interesting concept.
