seven samurai, mos def!!!
2nd place is Yojimbo!!!
The loving, caring, and slightly bad-influencing father of 1balloonpopper and khakibluesocks!!!
Also I'm not sure how -_-' but somehow I am the Master and Father of Spectro-King according to his signature ... but hey I'm up for having a minion ... so jump stupid ... I'll have him keeeeel you
 Evil child of Fantasy Dreamer and Dark Disturbed Grandchild of Cephas VII
On a quest to adopt Cephas
 WACKY BANANA!!! ROCKER!!! glomp of DOOM!!!
Ive noticed something interesting, when a place is really amazing people say it must be seen to believed ... but the most amazing place ever must be believed to be seen.

I think probably "The Hidden Fortress" or "Seven Samurai." Leaning more towards the former, though.

My favorite Kurosawa was Akira. He made all of those cool samurai movies, especially the Seven Samurai. Now that's what I call "classic."

I'm wondering who would win in a fight between Toshiro Mifune from The Seven Samurai and Toshiro Mifune from Yojimbo...

*watches ensuing carnage*

...Yojimbo, I guess.

I was unaware that Akira was a Kurosawa movie.

It is a shame that he and Mifune had a falling out. Think of all the movies that could have been.

For overall movie quality, Seven Samurai is undoubtedly the best. However, for pure emotional impact, I don't think I've seen a movie that's stuck with me as long as Kagemusha.

I just recently saw Ran, and have to toss that in with "depressing movies I watched because of a famous director" bin.

My favourite would definately be 'Ran', but then I also like 'King Lear' (the play the movie is based on). 'Kagemusha' is one of his better ones as well.

My least favourite would be 'Dreams'
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I understod the thread title the same way and was thinking of Minamo Kurosawa (how many of you remember that was Nyamo's name?).

Ran and Seven Samurai were his best films.

My gosh. Something in which Tech and I agree...
me wrote:*shrug* I've only seen Ran...

...but since it's my only Kurosawa so far, I can hardly call it favorite. I haven't read or seen King Lear, but I am familiar with the gist of it and think it's neat-o that Kurosawa decided to work based on a culture completely foreign to his.

Now I'm understanding that post a little better. He wasn't referring to the film Akira, but to Akira Kurosawa.

Hmmm. I guess I should make my posts more clear rather than use the cryptic telegraph style. I've only heard of the one Kurosawa. Doh.

If you did that Then smart alecks like me could have a little fun at your expense. At least I had the courtesy to answer the question as you intended.

Although, I do like Nyamo an awful lot, too.
