Concerning the new episode:
This has instantly become one of my new favorite episodes. Everything about it was awesome. The background music was just top notch. The storyline was simple enough, but really provided some good drama and intrigue. I also love how Rainbow Dash (and even Angel Bunny) seem to have really shown character growth and are much more gentle and sensitive towards Fluttershy. Sometimes it seems like the characters don't grow much from episode to episode, but then episodes like this change my mind. I also like how they didn't have Fluttershy do any huge and over-the-top OOC action to save the day. What she did was still courageous, but in the perfect Fluttershy way. I definitely got even more attached to Fluttershy after this episode. She's just too darn loveable!
On the episode:
What a wonderful episode. I loved it. The gags and action was pushed to the background and the focus was completely on storytelling. A much needed episode for this season, we've had too few of them. Even though 'Putting your hoof down' was more entertaining (or action packed if you will) I enjoyed watching this episode more. Lot's of character development, more scenes from the past. Agree with Felix on RD and Angel. With everything Rainbow learned her character is just perfect here. Her strong points and weak points all shinning through and ditto for Fluttershy.
And Spitfire! Yeah! More Spitfire is always welcome. Also lots of Derpy. A new male background character getting some attention. Woohoo for Thunderlane. And even a lot more background pony names.
The pony on steroids didn't really appeal to me, neither did he bother me. Just seemed like a useless prop in the story really. I'm hopping I'm in the minority with this one. Seems like somepony could find him funny and that's fine with me, I got to see more Spitfire.
And just a really, really, really great story.
Good news! Australia is getting a complete first season release DVD set. I don't think it's a 1 buy box set though, they're releasing each disc separately. But that's still great news.

@Bio: I feel the same way about the pony you mentioned. He didn't appeal to me, but didn't bother me too much either. He just seemed out of place in the MLP world, more than anything.

That IS great news about the AU box set! I hope this means that a box set will be finding its way to the states at some point soon. And If it does, I hope it's a little cheaper than the AU one! That one looks pretty pricey! I'd buy it even if it was that much, though. Totally worth it!

Two things I'd like to discuss and hear the opinions of my fellow Bronies. I'll start off with one topic and later move on to the other.
So I've been listening to some of the Pony podcasts reviewing or discussing 'It's about time'. Now 'It's about time' was a very predictable episode (most predictable so far really), and almost everyone starts of the review/discussion saying: 'It was a predictable episode, but then, it's a show for kids and most of the episodes are predictable'. Or something in that line. But I disagree with this.
Most of the episodes I find unpredictable and refreshing. Even when I guess the outcome of an episode the path the story takes to get us to the ending is usually filled with lots of surprises which I wouldn't have guessed at all. I think just guessing the ending hardly makes a episode predictable.
And even though the story of 'It's about time' was predictable throughout the episode. To put it down for that is just silly. The episode was obviously written to be predictable, and I think because of that we got a lot of surprises unrelated to the story itself, like Cerberus and Madam Pinkie. So we ended up getting a very fun predictable episode.
So what does everpony think? Are most of the episodes predictable, where you can mostly follow every beat of the story like 'Feeling Pinkie keen' (When Pinkie twitches something's going to happen to Twilight) or are they unpredictable like 'At the Gala' (Go on. Tell me you expected that ending from a girl show).

xDD

I understand what you're saying about it being different. I expected Doctor Whooves, but got Madame Pinkie. I expected Twilight VS Metal Gear, and got her worrying over nothing. xD

Well, I sure wasn't expecting that to happen.
Whatever the season in life, the RIGHT attitude makes all the difference.

Psalm 121:1-2

So far I've avoided spoilers of all the episodes except for the final two. I've clicked on every little piece of info I could find. And I have to say that I'm more psyched about the final episode than ever before. I just can't imagine what's going to happen, but it's going to be epic.

Also, there is a major spoiler in that video, but it's the kind of spoiler that's going to leave you wanting more.

Found this on My Little Brony, looked at Wikipedia and couldn't find this. Can't tell if fake, or Wiki Leaks.

I wish, but it's fake. :( Mail-mare Derpy is pure fandom, none of the episodes ever said or showed that she was a mail-mare. A 7th element is also just a fandom dream (I'm pretty sure Raider wrote that one up ) and prankster Celestia and Luna are half of the fanfictions out there. And those episode names are terrible.

Also, this reminds me Twister. Aren't we suppose to feed you to Gummi. It's the end of the season and no 7th main cast member. :eyebrow:

And no. Minty doesn't show up until the third season. -_-;

I'm not sure that I would like a Derpycentric episode. I kind of prefer her as a background easter egg character. The way the animators randomly throw her into almost every episode is often hilarious. And I think it's more fun to imagine the secret life of Derpy than to actually witness it.

Even though those episodes are fake, I kinda like the sound of the first two episodes, aside from that 7th element rubbish. I'm always up for new villains and epic adventure episodes. The two Discord episodes are still possibly my favorites. I hope there are some grand episodes planned for season 3, although I do love the slice of life episodes too!

It's been a while since I plugged any of my PMVs here, but I really enjoyed making this latest one, so I wanted to share it. It's an Applejack themed PMV, and turned out more epic than I thought it would! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak1hyl-lkfk

Saw this earlier today. Really throws into perspective how much work goes into animating. 5 minutes to explain 16 frames of half the screen.

@Felix  I've just put aside some time to comment on your last three videos and already you have another out I haven't seen yet. You're making me feel bad that I'm not putting out anything lately.

I don't think we'll have to worry about epic adventure and villains. John de Lancie has said he did some more VA for an upcoming episode. There's a change it could be one of the last episodes, but having listened to some of his previous interviews. My money puts him in S3.

I just received my copy of the Friendship Express DVD. It feels really good to have that DVD in my collection. :) And with it came my much sought after Princess Celestia and Princess Luna figurine set!! Finally! :jump: Princess Celestia in all her pink glory and the cutest Princess Luna. Yeah! :XD:

@Bio Thanks for doing that! I appreciate it :] Don't feel bad! I actually just have had no life or job for the last month or so, and making pony videos has literally been the outlet where I have spent most of my free time. Starting tomorrow though, I'll be working a new job and my production rate will probably plummet ^^; I'd love to see some new stuff from you, soon!

Yeah, Season 3 sounds a little more likely! I wonder if he'll be voicing Discord again? I'm not sure how they would bring him back... but I suppose if he escaped stone once, he can do it again! A new villain would be fun too, though. Maybe it'll be Discord AND someone else! A sidekick, perhaps? Discord and Mischief.

Congrats on getting the DVD and the set! On your DVD... make sure you watch the ending of episode 2 right away and see if they audio is out of sync or not. Apparently a large number of the first run discs had some audio problems there. Mine did, but Shout Factory replaced it for free when I e-mailed them, so it wasn't so bad!

@Felix Thanks. :) It's always fun receiving new videos from you so I hope you're still able to bring us more even with your new job. And congrats on that as well. :)

I hope it's Discord, but I won't be disappointed if he's voicing someone else. Maybe a flashback to when Luna and Celestia sealed him away would be nice. FIM villains are always so entertaining and I'm always excited with what they could come up with next. But I'd also like to see some old faces return, maybe some Trixie (she does seem the most likely with what Twilight said at the end of the episode) or Gilda. Gilda seems unlikely though and even if she returned I doubt we'll see the 'Gilda repents' episode a lot of Bronies want. A Discord duo does sound interesting though, maybe his identical twin brother. Double Discord.

I'll check out that DVD, thanks.

We did have a great pet centric episode this season, but other than that none of the pets (accept Angel of coarse) got a lot of screen time this season. Winona, Tank, Owliwishes, Opelessence and even Gummi didn't feature a lot this season. Owliwishes, Gummi and Tank all only appearing in 'May the best pet win' if I'm not mistaken. But I wouldn't worry though, we would probably see more of them sooner or later.

Concerning this episode:
This was actually a rather good episode. Although I am not always the biggest fan of episodes not featuring one of the Mane Six, this one was actually a rather humorous episode. The thing is, if everyone was feeling bitter and angry about the newspaper column, then why would Diamond Tiara think it would still sell even after people we're getting their personal lives in the newspaper? It wouldn't sell anymore. I don't know, its something to consider.
