I knew this game was going to be close, but I didn't think that close. Though to be honest, I'm not at all surprised. Me and my friends when to family sports bar and right before the game started, I had a feeling that I may have picked the wrong team to win. Sure the San Diego Chargers had a 12-4 record but most of their wins were against weaker teams (weaker schedule). Looking at their schedule they lost to all/most of the Play off contenders such as: The Jets, the Broncos (split 1-1) , Falcons and the Colts. So, I'm not the surprised. I can only hope the rest of my picks are correct.

I'm a bit scared for the GB and Vikings game. Sure the Vikings have lost the past7 or 10 games, but like some of the other teams they can be either hot or cold. I expect a good game here. Perhaps really close or an OT win by GB. The Vikings will give them a run for their money.

Seattle sadly needs a coach that will help them get to the next level.I can't,truth be told, see Mike Holmgren being that coach.

Nah I like Holmgren...too many times people blame coaches for losses....yes it lies with them....but the players were just not in it. I mean look at the game with St. Louis. Receivers not even looking on routes....you pull stunts like that...and you are not worthy of going to the Superbowl. Nah, give Seattle another year or so and they could be a powerhouse.

Can you say fear? They are so scared of The Colts that there gonna resort to all but cheating. Sad. Its a shame Bellecheck is being a fool. People can easily get hurt on a slick field...I just hope if people get hurt...there NE players and not Indy. You would think there would be rules against this sort of stuff.

I still can't believe that. It's horrible. Putting players at risk, possibly ending their career, so you can try to win underhanded? Call me overly zealous, but I'm outraged Belicheck would do that.

Regardless of what the Patriots do to get an edge, it still wont be enough to beat the COlts. Send the Patriots home cring. They fear Manning and his receivers... also, the running game sure aint bad either.
It'll be both the Colts and Steelers in the AFC championship game. I hope. :P

So far the play-offs have thrown in a few surprises... Lets see if I can get any right this time.

Saturday, Jan 15 picks:
Pittsburgh over The Jets.
-although the Jets beat San Diego in OT I don't believe they will continue to pull another upset, especially against the Steelers. Such a strong team... Though, for some reason I knew in the depths of my stomach that the Jets would beat the Chargers... and I sadly went along with all the hype. I'll try not to make that mistake again. Being it's the NFL anything can happen, that's the reason they play the game. "Any given sunday."

Now I must decide between both Atlanta and St. Louis... Which will it be? Hmm...Will the Rams continue their recent string of wins? As much as I want them to, I believe my pick will be:
Atlanta over St. Louis in a nail biter.

Colts should beat the Patriots no problem, but you can never tell. Manning looks very strong, and I think if he stays focused, Indy can go all the way. However, Pittsburg also looks strong. I think the AFC championship game will be the best game, and I don't think anyone in the NFC can win the Superbowl, no matter if Indy, Pitt, or NE goes. I don't think any of the other AFC teams has a chance. I guess we'll see. As long as the Patriots lose at some point, I'll be happy. My pick is Indy as super bowl champion.

I hear ya. I'm ready for their too-long streak to be done with. I think if Indy doesn't take them down, Pittsburgh will. I wouldn't write off Atlanta or St. Louis just yet, though. I mean, they did get all the way here including some tough teams. I don't think they have much of a shot, but I think one of them has a slight chance. You just never know what might happen: injuries, field conditions, mental status, crowd; everything plays a huge part.

Anyway, I think it will be Pitt over NY easily, Minn over Philadelphia relatively easily too, St. Louis over Atlanta though it may get close in the 3rd or 4th, and Indy over NE, though my gut says it may be a bitter fight til overtime. I hope Vinateri breaks his foot.

Well NY and St. Louis are done. I called those games in my picks. The NY Pitt game was a LOT closer then I ever thought it would be. If Pitt plays that sloppy with NE or Indy they might as well leave now. I am rooting that Minn knocks Philly off...but like has already been said...thats gonna be an uphill battle. An Atlanta Minn NFC title game would rock.

Wow, today has provided some really good games. First off I knew Pittsburgh was going to win, that that was a close one. The Jets came in as the underdogs and they made sure the Steelers were going to have to earn the win. Nice game...

Atlanta's win... enough said.

Now for my Sunday Jan, 16 picks:

Minnesota or Philadelphia?
THis will be my hardest decision as of yet... Owens is still injured, that doesn't help the eagles one bit. But they have a strong defense. The only way I expect Minn. to win is if they match their defense from last week against the Packers and Moss has a good day. What's kind of funny is my dad, before the season started predicted both Minn. and Pitt. to be in the superbowl... Kind of eery. As of so far, all the wildcards have been knocked out with the exception of Minn because they have yet to play. Minnesota has gotten a lot of hype but can they continue it? For some reason... I wanna say Minnesota but something is telling me that Philadelphia will pull out the last minute win. Although Owens is still out, I think Freddie Mitchell and Westbrook will step it up a knotch. Plus, Minnesota's offense is centered around Moss. Contain Moss, and you have your win. Or perhaps this will be a battle between McNabb and Culpepper... I'm wonding if their rushing yards will play a major role in whether they win or lose...This will be an very exciting game.
So my pick *biting his tounge* : The Eagles to send the VIkings sailing home.
(even as much as I hate the eagles....)

Now Indianapolis vs. New England.
Concidering I don't like the Patriots I'm going to pick the Colts to win. Manning is having a great season and last weeks game was a duzzy. Hopefully this will continue.

Well the Viking/Eagles game is finally over and the last time I saw the score it was
Philly 24 Minn 7 so it looks like Philly advances to the NFC Championship game against the Falcons.
I shall predict that Philly will go all the way after this.

NE destroyed Indy. Everyone was bragging on Manning and offense...well as a Raider fan I remember hearing the same crap a few years back. Facts are facts. Offense beats Defense every time. NE Indy was one of the most lopsided games I have seen in quite some time. I happen to detest the Patriots, but they deserve to be where they are.

New England vs Pitt
Atlanta vs Philly

Down to the final four now. I guess I will go ahead and take Philly over Atlanta...as much as I would love to see the Falcons win...and New England over Pitt...as much as I would love to see Pitt win.

That stinks about Indianapolis. I was wanting them to win today, but it just wasn't meant to be (my mom likes to watch football so I watch too, partly because she's just fun to listen to, lol). I'm not sure who I want to win now. The Pats are my favorite of the remaining 4, but they won last year, so a change could be nice.

Well...the thing with New England is...they have a masterpiece defense. Indy does not. There D got better from last year...but I just think they underestimated the Pats this year. Everyone was talking crap about how NE was the underdog team...bah. At this point I consider everyone else underdogs to New England. I am rooting for Pittsburgh to go all the way...but I doubt it will happen. But, playing in Pittsburgh...NE is fighting injuries...you just never know.

I'm going to stick with my Pittsburgh prediction. They've had three really bad games in their 15 game streak and managed to win them all. They are a complete team that knows how to win games. Rothelisberger had a bad game, but it's good that the rookie made it out of his first playoff game with a win. He'll be better next week. Of course, New England knows how to win as well and they'll be ready to play. It should be a great game.

I don't know about Atlanta. I really didn't expect them to make it this far (as my pre-playoff predictions showed), but let me say this. 300 yards rushing and 70 yards passing is not going to work against any of the other three teams still alive this year. I don't think I've ever heard such praise heaped upon a QB who only threw for less than 100 yards in a game. Vick needs to find his throwing arm if the Falcons are going to have any chance at all to win the Super Bowl. He is not going to be able to run like that against a team with a half-way decent linebacking corps and, if they make it to the dance, he is going to face a great LB set no matter who wins the AFC Championship.

He has been trying to find his throwing arm since his college football days at Va Tech.

I don't have a problem with Vick as a person or a player. He can play football. But hearing all that praise that he gets about how he is a good QB, ticks me off and more since I do live in Atlanta. :mutter:

Well I missed my chance to give my predictions for the divisionals, but who cares when the AFC and NFC Championships. Here's my predictions for the rest of the playoffs.

Philadelphia over Atalanta- This one should be close, but I think that the Vick factor what be enough to beat Phili.

Pittsburg over New England- Another close one, and I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way. But, I don't think the Patriots will be able to beat Pittsburgs defense, even with Corey Dillon, and I don't think Roethlisburger will make the same mistakes he did against the Jets.

So that leaves the Superbowl, I'll choose Pittsburg over Philidelphia.

I don't know about the Steelers, did you see that stingy Patriots defense shutdown one of the most prominent offensive games out there last week (The Colts). That defense is good, I mean very good and they got Corey Dillon healthy which makes all the difference in the world.

I still think it's Patriots and Eagles in the big game.

They've had three really bad games in their 15 game streak and managed to win them all. They are a complete team that knows how to win games.

My thoughts exactly. After last weeks game the Steelers are coming in as underdogs. I could careless about standings because a win is a win, a loss is a loss.

I predict the Steelers to overthrow the Patriots once again with their running game. Last time they met the Steelers controled the ball for about 45mins. If they can control the ball for the majority of the game then the Steelers have the game in the bag. Both have strong defenses...
Also, Bill Cowher has been with the Steeler for the past 13yrs. In my personal opinion, Cowher is one of the best coaches in the league. I would love to see him win that long awaited ring. He deserves it.

My hardest pick for this week will be the Eagles vs. Falcons... who to pick? Atlanta seems to be getting all the hype but is it more then they can handle like the Colts? Philadelphia is a strong team overall and so is Atlanta. As much as I want Atlanta to win, my gut is saying it'll be the Eagles who come out victorious with perhaps an OT win.

Winners:
Philadelphia
Steelers

The Pats proved themdelves the better team, as saddened as I was by it. My biggest regret is having to listen another season of how Belichick is so amazing, winning all of those games on his own, for get the 53 guys who actually have to go out there and perform.

for all you people out there that think the pats are so great and bill B is the man well i got one stat for you after a bye the eagles are 9-0 under Reid plus jimmy johnson can stop anybody the eagles would have had the least point allowed but they benched the starters the last two games in my mind the eagles d is better then the pats they kept alanta to 99 ruching yards so you can;t running d is a weekness and the secondary is great plus unlike vick brady is a pocket passer and the eagles are close to the most sacks in the league so the eagels d will win this game
