I love it when movies show us pretty things. So what are the most beautiful movies you've watched?

I want to see The Fall so badly! I've seen fan music videos, and it does look absolutely gorgeous! Yes to Big Fish, LOTR, The Last Samurai, Imaginarium, and Sleeping Beauty.

I pretty much agree with all those (except for Dune - haven't seen it). I'd also add a couple of anime movies - The Place Promises in Our Early Days and Whisper of the Heart.

Well, I have to agree with many of these movies, but I think a few could be added to this list:

The Searchers, by John Ford.
For the next 50 years most people who wanted to film landscapes studied this movie, including David Lean and others.



Once upon a Time in the West, by Sergio Leone.
Sergio Leone had an eye for shot composition. 'Nuff Said.



Ordet by Carl Theodor Dryer
Despite its "photographed play" feeling this movie has some moments of sheer beauty.





A Very Long Engagement by Jean-Paul Jeunet

The story of a young girl (with a polio limp) who seeks her fiance, who may have been lost in the trenches of World War One. Plot heavy, but beautifully filmed, a much better movie than Amelie (from the same team).
