Help

Okay I don't know what my desktop is doing, but I am beginning to fear my hard drive has crashed.
So the past week I have been unable to browse the internet - not because i am not connected (i could still play my mmorpg fine), but all of my browsers (firefox, ie, safari) cannot read pages. Then today iTunes won't play saying something about configuration. I try what i like to call the "magic restart" for pc machines and *gasp* my computer wont boot up
Instead, a blue screen talking about CMOS appears and apparently i must do something with it. Well i get out my laptop and apparently it has something to do with the fact it cant find an operating system. This, along with several applications not working over the past week lead me to believe my hard drive is no more
Of course I know next to nothing about computers and may be totally wrong. Pertinent info that I know: OS is Windows XP (on a pc, not mac) and i think its the business addition. the failures i talked about earlier. Any help would be appreciated, thanks much!
