Antivirus 2009

My mom asked that I let my sister use my laptop for 1 night.

And in 1 night she installed some of the most gnarly trojans and viruses ever.

One in particular that's annoying me to no end is Antivirus 2009: a fake antivirus program that floods the screen with tons of popup ads, alerts about fake infections, and lets other viruses and trojans right in.

I'm trying to get rid of it, but as soon as AVG scans it, Antivirus 2009 fakes a BSOD (complete with advertisements and such) and shuts the computer down.

So far, all my attempts to get rid of it have failed because of this, and I can't find any manual removal instructions that don't involve me downloading some shady programs I've never heard of before.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

Here is a good guide on removal from bleepingcomputer:

Also, if AVG causes a fake BSOD, try using Adaware, or Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are good (and free) programs that I use to keep my computer clean.

Let me know if this helps. I do this stuff for a living ;)
