I'm trying to copy photo from a webpage using a Mac, but I can't get it to work. I've tried command + c, but that doesn'y put the photos anywhere I can find. Command + s just tries to save it as a webpage. What should I do?

Can't you just click-and-drag the photo to your desktop?
If you want more than just the JPG or GIF off the site, I usually do this:
Apple-Shift-4 (Apple Dollar). That creates a cross-hairs on the screen that you can click and drag to capture whatever you want. It will appear on your desktop as "Picture x" where "x" is one more than the number of them you already have.

If you want to "save image as," hold control and click the picture. It has the same effect that right-clicking would have with a two-button mouse.

You can also use that pop-up feature with Firefox to suppress display of any images hosted on the same server. Good for blocking advertisements!
