wireless woes

A friend of mine is working on installing a wireless network for internet in a motel his family owns. His internet router is set up in the basement, which goes upstairs to a five-port hub, and then from there to five different wireless routers. His problem is that the signal keeps popping in and out, from fine to crap. There's a distance of roughly 400 feet to the furthest router from the hub, so I couldn't help but wonder if attenuation in the cable was the problem.

*shakes head* And people wonder why I hate wireless...

But anyhoo, if anyone could give me their thoughts on the matter, it'd be much appreciated.

hmm i found 2 thing really affect the quality of a wirless network, crappy ethernet cables and radio wave interferiance: microwaves, vacumes, tv's, pretty much anthing that give off an emp i would try out a better ethernet cable first, and the shorter the better
