The layman's summary is that, in addition to PCs that will do the same thing, people can allow their idle PS3s to help with medical research. Doing simulations that would otherwise take 30 years, this program uses thousands of computers linked up by broadband internet to do these computations spread out, so it will take much less time. Now, it won't just be PCs that can do this, but people's PS3s. Much like (what I consider laughable, but that's just IMNSHO) "Seti@home", this uses the idle processes in the computer's processor to work on these computations. Hmm... Finding aliens or curing cancer? I think I'll take... Curing cancer.
