Bible for Mac

Ok so here is the deal:

I bought a Macbook Pro 17" (thank God for good jobs) and i have only so far hit one hitch. I can't use E-Sword on Mac as its only PC. For those who do not know E-Sword is an electronic bible program.

I was wondering if anyone knows a good freeware Bible for Mac, or better yet a good windows emulator I can use to run E-Sword.

And yes I know i can run Windows XP on my Mac but I bought a Mac to get away from Windows so I would prefer to be able to do it within OS X.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I actually had the same problem, and there is no good free Bible program that I'm aware of. There are a few free ones, but they kind of suck. I went to Christian Discount software or something to that effect and bought something called quickverse. They sell the older versions which don't run on the dual cores that you and I both have, but there are a series of updates on the quickverse website you can download that make it compatible and it's like half the price.

Thanks. And I heartly agree, it rocks. I may give it a look. Maybe someone else has sources neither of us do. We shall see.

What, exactly do you need it for? Would a good on-line bible work? That's what I use. I get most everything I need from http://www.biblegateway.com/
. There is even a firefox plugin (at least there was) to make it easier to search. Most translations, most languages.

I was actually looking for a local app. I know of that bible but I can't get internet at my chruch which is where I wanted it for.

Ah. I see. I've used Logos in the past, and it looks like they're going to come out with a OS X native version:

I'm not sure how much it costs, but it's REALLY good. I guess it's a question of what you like, and how much you're willing to pay for it. Incidentally, they've got an associated widget, too. You may like what you find at cmug:

Uh.... If you're going to go to that much trouble, just get parallels and install windows.

Or wait around for the next version of OSX which will have a better parralells program. But seriously. It's a good thing. ^-^ And you won't have to taint your machine with windows.

Macswords good (its what I used to use) but it hasa a very limited selection of Bibles and kind of a clunky interface. If you want a free Bible its worth a shot though.

Nope. That was part of what turned me off of it. It also has a much clunkier interface than eSword.
