Does Firefox 2.0.0.1 crash a lot for anyone else? It's been crashing more and more lately and I'm getting annoyed, especially since it likes to crash when I hit 'enter' while typing a message just like this! I'm just wondering if someone can tell me if it's known to be glitchy or if this is something on my end. I was happier with the previous version!

Hmm... I don't have any problems with it. What extensions do you have installed? Have you upgraded to the latest version of 2? I think they're past 2.0.0.1.

I sometimes find that Thunderbird hangs, and then I check the memory usage of the process and find that it steadily increases.. I found it almost at 500MB one time. So yeah, Thunderbird tends to crash more in my experience (not that I use Firefox a lot).
But an alternative would be to try Opera.

*Checks* Actually I have 2.0.0.2, and it said there were no other updates currently available.

You know, it's entirely possible that it's related to memory. Most of the crashes occur after a page has just been opened and perhaps it's still loading things behind the scene when i begin to type. I'll admit i have an older system, but it's odd because I've never had speed issues until now. If it keeps up, I might consider Opera, thanks.

Have you scanned for viruses/malware/spyware recently? Have you checked the RAM? Either of those could be an issue. It's also possible some piece of Firefox is corrupt.

It crashes a lot in conjunction with Flash files. I think there lie a few problems.

Now that I think about it, I have had Firefox hang for a long time while it loads large PDFs. I tried the same on Opera, and it was still usable while it was loading.

Fairly recently. Plus I upgraded Norton a few months ago, so I'm pretty good in that arena. RAM is a potenial issue, but I'm not having any problems with other RAM hogs like photoshop. Since a few others have mentioned lags in Firefox, I think it's probably the new browser itself + a Pentium 4 with only 768 MB of RAM. (Yeah, I'm a RAM miser.) Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it.

Hmm... Win XP with less than 1 GB of RAM? That's flirting with disaster, as far as I'm concerned. If there's a mem leak in FF, you're going to hit trouble.
Anyway, your welcome!
