Question about Digital Video cameras

Ok, so today I just installed a webcam and software that uploads a picture to my site once every 3 minutes (which is very kewl) when the software is running. At night, I'll turn it off. My question is this, is it harmful to the camera in any way to leave it on 24 hours a day? I've never known it to get warm or anything... I'm wondering if the image-capturing device inside the camera can be damaged due to full-time exposure to the world or anything like that.
