Probably by mousing over the little icon in the system tray, I'd guess. It shows the current connection speed. (For instance, right at this moment, I'm connected at 36Mbps.)
Now, the questions are, in order:
1: Do you use the connection as a home network (i.e. watching anime from the desktop on the lappy and stuff)?
2: Is your Internet connection faster than 1.5Mbps?
If the answer to both of these are no, then it doesn't really affect anything.
If, however, you answered yes to one or more of the above, or are particular about your networking, I'd suggest checking the speed with the laptop very near to the router - with nothing between them, that should give you the speed without any interference. If that's 2Mbps, check your router's settings, if it's 11Mbps, check for interference. You might check your router's antenna, as well.
