Time for the browser showdown. What browser do you use? Please don't kill other members if they don't use the same browser as you.

I use Firefox for my needs, but there are some things I like IE better on. With my plugins (Stopzilla), it works better to keep out popups, can access some sites better and is less balky with plugins

OTOH, Firefox has tabbing, works better when I do megaposting on my CAA rpg and customizes easier.

So I have firefox as the main, but keep IE pinned to the start menu in case it's needed.

Tabs make CAA bearable for me. I have to read all these nasty threads, and being able to tab through them all is very usefull.

I wish I could take two choices though. Firefox AND safari.

I use Firefox, mainly because I personally hate using apps that use Qt (like Opera or Konqueror) unless I absolutely must (like K3B).

I used Internet Explorer for many years before discovering how slightly less than perfect it really is, so I switched to Netscape which is also less than perfect. (But it sure loads CAA faster! )

I'm slowly encorporating code into CAA to make it take longer if you are using IE or coming from a known troll site.

How do you stay awake and keep up when working through the RPGs? Some of them do 10 pages a day

slowly? Just check $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], and include a bit of a wait if it's IE. One line of code for that. (well, maybe four depending on your preferred brace style.)

It doesn't always work cuz of browsers like Opera and things like that. Press F12 in Opera and have fun fooling those websites that check user agent.

I feel bad for people who are foolish like I used to be and use IE. I trust the Fox.

Interestingly enough, Opera appends its name to the IE useragent string. Of course, it's easy enough to change to a supported useragent in Opera or Firefox.

But if you prefer, stick something like this in the stylesheet:
Code: Select all
<!--[if IE]>
* { display: none]-->

You can only stick that in the HTML, not the stylesheet. Styleshet comments are /* */, not <!-- -->.

I love the results of the poll so far. I am proud of you guys. Well, except those poor 2 souls using IE. Repent and see the error of your ways.

Having just upgraded to Firefox 1.4 I find A problem with CAA-- PM's won't open in a second window, even when you click on the right buttons.

AH: That's one of the preference settings in Firefox, I believe.

Yeah, that's cuz it disabled "old" extensions which sucks. Same thing here. We'll just have to wait for new versions of our extensions.

Actually, I fixed it-- ran the registry cleaner and it works better than 1.3 now.

I'll learn from experience-- don't take Mozilla's word for it when they say closing firefox and opening it again is all it needs..

BTW, thanks for your constant montoring and advice.

I try to use only Safari, but sometimes I'm forced to use Netscape. If I didn't have a Mac, I would use Internet Explorer though.
