l0|\|9 li\/3 73h c|24c|<3r5! im creating my own O.S., its surprisingly in a 3d environment, similar to the gibson in the movie "Hackers" (yes, i know that the movie was bogus, but it was still so cool ^_^) im wondering if any of you guys are likewise messing around with knoppix or other forms of DSL (no! not the internet conection! the O.S.!)

Haven't seen 'hackers' but it sounds a lot like Sun's Project Looking Glass.

No messing with the OS here, but my comptar is a gentoo box.

"Long live the crackers?" Um, ok... What language are you coding you OS in? What platform will it be on? Are you just rearainging the interface, or are you really coding the whole thing from scratch. I had to write a simple CLI OS in college - in assembly. I don't think I ever finished that project (I don't think ANYONE in the class did - the instructor was just trying to show us how tough it was, I think). Anyway, if you are writing a full fledged OS, good luck! I'm guessing you are refering to the *ahem* darn small linux distribution, though.

Anyway, welcome to the nuthouse!

well, yes. i do mean *cough* darn small linux, but its a slightly different project called knoopix, its a cd run O.S. that is extremly easy to mod, just google look for it ^_^. oh, and the language is, as usual, c++, of cours. however, im thinking about creating a few run time tools using java, i dunno.....
thanks! (yes, crackers, like unix, you get what i mean -_^)

Knoppix is handy. I like the Linux-on-a-floppy-disk versions, though. (I like NetBSD and OS X even more. ^^ )
