Is it possible to play Japanese made PC games on a regular Windows XP machine here in the states?
My brother and I have had our eyes on some Japanese PC games that probably won't get released here in the US (read:
Ragnarok Battle T^T Yes, I realize that the page is in Korean, however the copies for sale on
eBay are the Japanese). The system requirements are for Japanese Windows XP - is that any different from the version of XP Professional I'm running, and if so, if I installed the game on my computer, what would happen?

yes, you can play it on your computer^^ you might have to turn your computer's region settings to Japanese to play it, though(which is pretty easy)

Probably what you would have to do to get rid of the annoying "????" marks are:
- Add the Eastern language fonts to your computer (235mb)
- Change the non-unicode language option to Japanese (don't worry. English letters are still readable) (see "lang 3.png)
- Make sure the box is checked allowing Eastern language fonts to appear on applications
I've included some screenshots (I also use XP Pro) to show you what I mean.

your computer will need to support the different fonts. My computer wouldnt work with metal slug 4, but it worked on my moms laptop (korean version)

If you have XP, the fonts should be there for installing (you might have to get them off the WinXP disc if they weren't installed on the HD).
That's why it's so easy for me to put junk like 何んだこれは? wherever I want...
