a good mp4 player/codec?

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Wed Mar 29, 2006 12:49 pm

Ok, now that format is just making me mad, and I still wonder WHY movie formats are turning into that instead of the classic, easy to use .avi :/

So does anyone know of a good one? So far, the Matroska Player thing just confuses me on how you change the file into... whatever (plus you need ANOTHER program to work it if you go that way) and I have the new VobSub, which is a Beta (version 0.8.5-svn-20051 or something along those lines^^) and oh it plays the file... BUT it freezes every couple of seconds so skips stuff and annoys me :/

Anyone know of a nice, easy to use alternative for that STUPID format?

This format caused me a hassle some time ago. It's been a while, but once I installed the Haali Media Splitter, it enabled Media Player Classic to play MP4 files.

I can't remember if there were any other codecs involved.

Maybe I should also point out that Media Player Classic REALLY doesn't like me ^^ Freezes my comp every time I attempt to use it, and practically crashed my comp a few times :/
Oh, and another thign to keep in mind is that I'm still running on a Windows 98, so if it's XP and above, it obviously won't work for me^^

EDIT: You know what, all I did was install the Matroska Splitter (which was unlike the program I downloaded earlier) and it works fine now! I could request the topic to be locked since I practically answered my own question, but maybe I'll leave it open for a bit just in case something else goes wrong^^

try getting the in_mp4.dll file for winamp. I hear it works for most other applications as well.
