phpBB sucks, in my experience...but that's just me. Invision is ok and vbulletin (what caa runs on) is cool too.

Well, I don't care much about PHPbb (in terms of handling, I'm not knowledgeable enough about the security aspect). I use Invision, which has a moderately large mod base, but I have a copy of the software from back before it became pay (aka 2.0...I run 1.3 on my sites). Nuke, as far as I know, uses a PHPbb module rather than its own forum system...or that was the case when I played with it. And as far as I know, there's no such thing as a free version of Vb, so I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I'm very leery of phpBB because of its security problems. In fact, I'm a little spooked by some of the recent PHP exploits that have come out, and even though my architecture is kind of exotic, I don't want to be the first exploit either.

I've set up a Burning Board install, and that was pretty easy. I do like vBulletin's features, but it's a beast to maintain.

Never used Invision as an admin, though I'm not wild about it as a user. I've heard of phpNuke but that's about all.
