Window focus

Postby Icarus » Tue Sep 04, 2007 4:22 pm

This isn't something you'd expect unless you've used another operating system, but I found out today how to get the focus to follow the mouse on Windows. All you have to do is fire up regedit, and in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Desktop change the UserPreferencesMask by one bit (in my case, the first hexadecimal pair went up from 9e to 9f). Reboot, and it's done! You can actually use Windows!

And yes, Linux has spoiled me.

I forgot one thing in the original post. and didn't see the edit option. Between HKEY* and Desktop is the Control Panel folder.

It makes it so that you don't have to click on a window for that window to gain focus, you just move the mouse over it. I tried it for a while, but it just wasn't for me. It's really a personal thing, those who like it, like it and those who hate it, hate it.
