Hello out there for all my fellow Christians!

While in DCCYC (Dallas Chinese Christian Youth Camp), I experienced something that deepened my bond with God.

Our speaker Steve taught us something very interesting and blew off everyone's typical idea of being a "good Christian"

Here are some definitions that might help a bit...

There are 7 types of Christians..

1. Dead-have not yet acknowledged Jesus Christ as God, Savior, and Lord

2. Dying-Christians who lives for their own desires and/or other but not for God.
3. Hurting(sick)-wounded Christians who will not move on to healing.

4. Breathing-a religious Christian: saying the right things but living the wrong way.
5.Healing-Christians who are moving from hurt to wholeness: a growing follower of Christ.
6. Living-A follower of Christ that is growing daily and influecing the world.

7. Dangerous-a follower of Christ that understand Jesus is the only one who matters and the Gospel if the only thing that matters: someone who is willing to take risks for Christ; abnormal; lover of God and others/culture; someone who loves outside of "comfort zones".

and here's something else important that I want to share with all of you..

Worhship(worth-ship)-Giving(sacrificing) to/for someone/something that we think are worthy

there are two differet ways of worshiping.

1. wholistic-worshiping all the time, never stop wanting to follow Christ, not even when with nonbelievers.

2. corporate-worshiping out of convenience, only in church or youth group, but stops at home or with nonbelievers.

Which type of Christian/worshipper are you?
I confess, I was a dead Christian, but now I've committed and moved on healing, instead of sitting at home, only worship in church and in Youth Group, I try to be dangerous, try to spread the Gospel to my nonbelieving friends and even people I don't fully know yet. it might be embarrasing at times, but I'm willing to look foolish for God.

Interesting. I knew there were Christians that behaved differently but I didn't know there are 7 different types. I could work more to be a "dangerous" Christian myself. Of course I think that'll take me some time :eyeroll: Thanx for sharing this :)

For a long time I was a "breathing Christian." Then, (thank GOD!!!!!!), the LORD opened my eyes during jr. high. I'm sort of embarassed of who I was before, but I'm trying to show that I've changed. I'm probably "healing"or "living" right now. I hope that I'm beginning to be at least a little bit "dangerous", though.

Personally, I have just left the "breathing" Christian and am on my way toward "healing".

During my childhood I was not raised in a religious household, just a morally correct household. The only time my family actually prayed was on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter -- only when tradition means you should.

Being a meek, shy, and obedient child, I was saved by several friends back in the third grade. Unfortuntaley, I knew nothing of what I was to do so that slipped off. I was lucky and had lots of friends throughout my life who witnessed to me: 5th grade, 7th grade, and 11th grade. It still wouldn't stick, though, because every time I pronounced my faith my Mom would question me as to why and would then say things like, "I don't know why Christians think they're all hot... They are just hypocrits. They say they love everyone - that God loves everyone - and yet they hate homosexuals, prostitutes, and anyone of another religion." What can a child -- who is thoroughly uneducated in their faith -- say to that?

Last year, in 2003, I was finally saved once more by my then fiance and now husband, Benjamin. It stuck. He's helped me grow with the Lord in so many ways and in return, I have helped him grow closer too. I moved to New Hampshire in July of this year and the first Sunday I was there he took me to his home church. (The first time I was ever to a real church service, I might add.) It's a wonderful church -- Barrington Evangelical Free Chruch -- and I learn loads of interesting tidbits each week on what the Bible says and how I can apply it to my life. Besides, the community inside is great, everyone is genuine and honest. It's so refreshing to go there every Sunday. *~_~*

So, now when my Mom asks me why I am a Christian and starts ranting about what she always says (hypocrits), this is what I say, "Mom, the Bible says to love the sinner and not the sin.", and leave it at that.

Thank you for posthing this thread, Dark Angel. It's nice to see how everything stacks up. Someday I will grow in my faith and be classified as a "Dangerous" or "Living" Christian. I'm just not takin' my eyes off that big picture. *points up and winks*

I've read your thread a couple of times now without posting but yeah, I agree to a certain extent, I like the 7 levels in terms of their relationship with God, but i don't think they would be christians, not real christians if they were living their own lifes etc. They may be 'cultural' christians, similar to what staci just described above without the hypocrisy bit, just 'good' christian without the relationship, and therefore not a real christian like we know.

But I like it none the less. Thanks for that.

Welcome to the forums and such. We're glad you're here and enthusiastic.

However, while searching all the threads before your time, be careful to note the post date. This one, for example, is approaching three years old. While there's nothing wrong with posting in an old thread, always pause a bit and make sure it needs to be brought back. With that in mind, carry on.
