Hi HI, This is a new Rurouni Kenshin Fic that I am really enjoying writing ^_^
The moon's glow illuminated the way of the lone traveler. The road beat under the worn and wooden sandals. The hood of the cloak cast its shadow across the face. This traveler alone walked the dark and gloomy path. The slow step of the wanderer revealed calm confidence with neverending weariness. It been peaceful this night until a scream pierced the starry sky.
The traveler ran towards the scream, past houses and thro;ugh alleyways. He reached the vision of two men attacking a women, who by now shrank back in terror, blood gushing from her side. The men wielded long katana's, that looked rusted and dull with age, even beyond the blood that dripped from the blade. They also wore a short sword, unsuccessfully concealed behind their tattered robes. They sought fresh meat and they found it. Two ronin's on an innocent prey.
The traveler sighed and stepped foward. The two men stopped and turned; alcohol floated off their breath, desecrating the clean night air. The women sat, holding her side, with hope to stop the bleeding. When they saw the 5 foot 4 inch defender, they laughed and turned back to business.
This defender of truth ran towards them. The ronin, who's blade gleamed the darkest red, turned and slashed nonchalantly. The traveler dodged and landed a blow to the face, causing the man to drop his sword, which proved to be foolish when a second punch to the stomach brought him to his knees. Now the other man shifted his gaze from his victim, only to recieve a punch to the nose, kick to the head and a spin hook kick to the face.
Looking up from the body that now laid on the ground, the vision of a red haired man with a cross-shaped scar on the left cheek now arose. The traveler only noticed the sword however and saw the man's hand on the hilt. Also a ronin. He started to walk toward the victim, smiling, even though the victim gushed blood and looked as if about to faint.
Something snapped and the traveler ran, "You will not harm her!"
The red haired ronin turned, eyes narrowed and calm with an inner confidence. The traveler saw this and knew what hid behind that calm exterior, knew of the bloodlust that struggled to free itself from the man's steady control, yet the traveler ran anyway. Anything to save the girl, even if death reared its head and struck.
The callused and feminine hands of the ronin gripped the hilt tighter. Within a split second the traveler noticed many things. Some of the ronin's friends appeared next to the door with shocked expressions. ONe in particular, a spiky haired 19-year-old with a red bandana, noticed the traveler's inhuman speed, clenched his fist, and took a step foward but stopped with a glance from the ronin. The traveler read the lips of the ronin's whisper, "This one's fast and will not be defeated easily."
The second passed. The traveler gripped the katana. The red-haired devil shifted back, the sword sheathed. Why won't he draw? The ronin waited. Ten feet lessened to five. The traveler drew and slashed, aiming for the right shoulder. The ronin's sword flashed instantly. The two blades met.
Time passed in hushed silence except for the breathing. Both fighters glared. The ronin's shirt on the right shoulder and the traveler's cloak on the same shoulder tore, blood ran and soaked the garments. Both waited for weakness.
"Why? Why is it that you would harm this one?" the ronin quietly lifted his gaze, trying to peer through the shadow of the hood.
"I will not have you harm her," the traveler responded evenly.
"I do not wish her harm, but I have a feeling your not going to believe me," he shook his head.
"Your right. How can I when two ronin's just tried to hurt her more?" the traveler glanced over at the girl, "She does not even believe that you will save her."
The red-haired man glanced over and saw the terror rack the girl's shoulders. His expression saddened, "I truly only wish to help her."
The traveler chuckled, "My friend, how I wish I could believe you."
The ronin remained silent.
"However, we waste time. If I am to save her, I must do this quickly. Please I do not wish to kill you but I will protect her and myself," the traveler's head bowed.
The ronin smiled, "I understand. Then let's end this."
The blades departed and both jumped back. The traveler ran again, this time diverting to the left and then a split second to the right and jumped. The ronin glanced up and saw the traveler land behind him, the ronin's back turned. The ronin's blade clashed again with the traveler's.
Man, look's like I'm not going to be able to end this with a quick slash to the sword arm.
The traveler jumped and slashed down. The ronin dodged and disappeared.
hmph. Your good ronin. However I have speed as well. The man's friends looked puzzled trying to find him. The traveler landed and blocked up and then sideways. Their blades clashed.
"Enough of this. It is time to end this," the traveler muttered and jumped back.
Shifting his stance to a full frontal attack, the traveler ran, "Okami ryu!" The wanderer sprinted from side to side, then with in human speed jumped around the ronin. Behind, back, side, side, angle, angle. Creating the illusion of a wolf pack. Now The traveler lunged, slashed upward and down, then right and left aiming for the paralyzing effects of the body, jumping up and shifting the blade down. As the traveler landed behind the ronin, another strike to the back completed the move. The traveler rolled foward and stood, feeling blood flow from the side.
The ronin turned. THe traveler noticed blood on the shoulders, arms, legs. All the places that had been struck but they weren't as severe as they should have been. He should be paralyzed. I should be deadThe traveler looked at the ronin's blade and his side. Of course. A reverse blade sword. I SHOULD be dead.Praise God. But what now.
Dizziness overcame and forced the traveler's knees to give way to the feeling. The girl had already fainted but the traveler noticed that a lady doctor attended her wounds. The ronin walked towards the hunched figure.
Death awaits to give me Life with my God. The traveler tried to stand, the wound would not have it. The ronin's shadow fell over and consumed the wanderer.
The traveler looked up and saw the katana still out.
The traveler bowed, "I thank you for fetching a doctor for the girl and I ask forgiveness that I was a fool. If you wish to end my life, then I understand."
The ronin's eyes softened, "You were protecting a life. How then can I kill someone who tried to sustain life? Killing you would defeat the purpose. Besides this blade could not kill you and this one has vowed never to kill again." The ronin sheathed the blade and offered his hand.
The traveler took it and let it slip as darkness consumed.
More later!!! Shockers up ahead!!!!!!!!
