Into the breach again...

November is almost upon us and we know what that means for all the loonies here who like to put pen to paper...

National Novel Writing Month.

Often, and most likely heretofore shortened to Nanowrimo, the month is spent attempting to achieve a cathartic, quixotic, 50,000 word goal in the 30 days of the month, using narrative prose and wit (and occasionally plain rediculousness).

So whos up for it?

The official community, sign up, monitoring and confirming site is: http://www.nanowrimo.org/

My username is animetedskier, see y'all around!

Ah, I probably should consider this. Chances are it might not be the best use of my time, but it might be within my means and a decent exercise. It would require more devotion than I usually give to writing amid my schedule.

We'll probably have to see what my schedule looks like closer to November and if I have another writing project.

Ah, not this year. Not with college apps, extra hours to pay off my car, etc. I should've done it last year.

Ah, nano. Should be an interesting year, what with college and all that. I'm Aileen Nemec over there.

I participated in the MarNoWriMo at Writing.com earlier this year (essentially the same contest, many of the same participants, just done in March instead of November). I haven't made up my mind yet whether to try doing both. At Writing.com I'm the same user name as here. Probably go with that for Nanowrimo too.

I lost last year. The death of my dad threw me off. But this year i'm gonna do it! NOTHING CAN STOP ME!

Well, to an extent. If the rapture comes I'm not gonna be concerned with Nanowrimo at all. XD

I decided to skip this year, as it turns out. I've been having all kinds of health issues that have made both writing and drawing a serious chore. I'll be cheering for you, and my author friends over at Writing.com also participating.

Don't forget to sleep/eat/go to work/school, etc. etc.

Wow I haven't been on CAA in awhile, but I couldn't help but drop in to see the NaNo discussion going on here. We had a pretty cool group on here last year doing it. =]

I hit the 30k mark today, which was so exciting because I was SO behind all month. I was in Philly the whole kickoff weekend and a church retreat the weekend after that and I was slowly falling behind. On Saturday morning I was 7000 words behind, and now I'm 1000 ahead. Yay for write-ins and weekends! Unfortunately, I still don't have a real plot and my characters are FLAT. Oh well, that's what I get for not planning at all in October and making up my characters names on Oct 31st.

Congrats on your wordcount, Kawaiineko!

I'm at around 11K right now. Hopefully I can rack up some major writing time during Thanksgiving break. Why did I want to go to college again? XD

Now there's optimism for you!
Maybe someday I'll try this, but...I've never written a 50,000 word story in any amount of time. One month just seems like it would be asking for trouble.

^ I agree with Eso. I once wrote a story that was about 149,000 words long, but it took about three years to get there. The most I could write in a month would probably only be 20,000 words, and that would be pushing it a lot. I'm just too lazy to do something like NaNoWriMo. If they set the bar a little lower, maybe I'd try it, but for now...I think I dare not try, even if I had found out about it before it's almost over.

Hey Eso, let's start a National Procrastinator's Writing Month! See who can get to -1,000 words first! :eh:

kneko for the win! *happy dance*

That was a stressful month! I read like fifty books (ok, five or six, but in a two weeks!), wrote a term paper and various other little papers, sometimes did calc. homework, applied to three colleges, and did NaNo! I think I'll spend the month of December conquering the world or something easy and relaxing like that...
